Michael Palmer resigned from Party over extramarital affair

i dont believe this shit. they might have pipe it up. they may be trying to go into election and test WP strength and tactics after they won a GRC, so they can prepare for GE2016.
Palmer seems forced to leave, the affair might be just a setup.
we need to know in details what affair? lovers affair? gay affair? how they affair, degree of teh afair etc.

Instead of acting on high moral ground and reprimand Mr Palmer, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the hard work he have done for his Punggol East SMC.
If he did not do anything right , he would not be voted in.
As for his apology, I see no purpose in disclosing the identity of the third party in public.
It is a personal matter and should be keep private.
It should NOT be an exercise to shame him and the lady in question.
I wish him good luck on his future endeavours.

if he love the lady he can divorce the whife. if its a mistake becasue sometimes lady very sexy and caring put half ball then palmer can just break off with here and move on continue to work in pap.
just enforce introduce one new rule that no provacative dressing allowed in people's association can already.

The People's Association has confirmed that Ms Laura Ong, a constituency director of Pasir Ris West Constituency Office, has quit.
In a statement on Wednesday night, it said she tendered her resignation on Dec 10, citing family commitments.
"The People's Association has accepted her resignation," said the spokesman.
Ms Ong is understood to be the woman whom former Speaker of the House Michael Palmer had an extra-marital affair with.
Earlier on Wednesday, Mr Palmer announced his resignation as Speaker and MP for Punggol East.

Hougang is a single ward constituency and Punggol East constituency is also a single ward constituency BUT one is by WP while the other is by PAP.
So? Teo Ser Luck was not elected by the residents of Punggol East SMC to represent them. And whether anot is from PAP, WP or any other party who resigns, a by election should be held to ensure that the residents have a choice to choose who is best to represent them. Also just to add on by Kuali Baba, Punggol East is a SMC and not part of a GRC.

The guy who was running for Hougang by election.
In him, they already have a guy who have fought the war.
He deserved the second chance.
They stand a good chance of winning as it is a 60.4% ward.
They can stand by the fact that the co-drivers that they have entrusted their votes was not even awake.

PM Lee to 'carefully consider' whether to call a by-election
SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said he will "carefully consider whether to call a by-election in Punggol East and, if so, when", following the resignation of Mr Michael Palmer, who was Member of Parliament for Punggol East SMC.
"The Constitution does not require me to call a by-election within any fixed timeframe," said Mr Lee in a statement. "I assure Singaporeans that I will make my decision based on what is best for the constituents of Punggol East and the country."
Mr Lee noted that the Government is currently focued on "several national issues". "Our Singapore Conversation is making good progress. The White Paper on Population is being finalised, and will be debated in Parliament in January. We are also preparing for Budget 2013," he said.
Mr Palmer resigned as Speaker of Parliament and as a member of the People's Action Party after admitting today to a relationship with a member of the People's Association staff.
Mr Lee said that his first priotity is to "ensure that the residents of Punggol East continue to be well taken care of".
"We have appointed Mr Teo Ser Luck to oversee Punggol East constituency, and Mr Zainal Sapari to chair the Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council. DPM Teo Chee Hean, who himself is in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, will also take a personal interest in the welfare of Punggol East residents," said Mr Lee. -
