I support the idea of foreign immigrants. However, I will like to be more "Toa Kan" a bit. Give them the citizenship instead of PR status since we welcome them. Then we only will have singaporean and non singaporean.

I think you have been fooled to think PRs or Residents means 100% citizens.
PRs are 0% citizens.

Hi Suzy Wang, I have been censured here but I still want to answer whenever I can because I sincerely believe that electorates must not be manipulated by parties for their benefit. Politics should be for voters to manipulate the parties. Moderators here already know my weakness and impose obstacles to my posting by it skills.
We all are very clear - PRs are not citizens. Most of them are here only because they could not get better deal in their countries. But why should this matter to us citizens as long as they are here to contribute skills and/or money? We are extracting help from them and so if they leave when they feel enough so be it - they gain something from helping us and we gain something from them when they are with us - win win. As long as we do not loogie it is perfectly ok. I know you probably think these PRs might be managers or professionals and above and so if they are gone these jobs would be filled by sporeans. Fat hope, the top 0.5% are not that stupid ok? We have 10k cos in this island because they are given royalty treatment if not spore has no mkt to offer, not low cost centre and sporeans are normal people - no special geniuses. There will always be grads who cannot make the grade of senior positions because we are normal people like other races.

By now, our government should see that bringing in foreigners does not help. They can look at the stats to see, of the million foreigners they bring in (not forgetting the kind of money that our government spent in bringing them in), how many baby our immigrants have produced. Why isn't there a soaring impact on the birth rate in singapore?

Contribute skills and/or money.
PR who cannot even contribute at work, commanding higher pay than other Singaporeans, is considered contribute skills and/or money?
I don't wish to name the GLC involved, but they paid premiums to these "talented" people and pay Singaporeans less.
Tell me what contribution if they get paid premium and are still unable to perform in their job even after repeated trainings other than making up numbers. -

2nd, this is not the intention - it is only an outcome. So if the outcomes are small compared to the whole, it should not be judged badly on the PLCs because errors do occur.

Honestly what do you think? I see you actually understand the real problem is. If it is so difficult to get proof of infringement, you should consider be a small business owner like many oppo mps/ncmps/future mps. Having a big quality popn is advantages to local smes. They are enjoying good money and yet they are lobbying for more like free coes or freebies or GLCs must be sold so that they got bigger turves to make more money. But please don't ask them whether it is easy to be smes or not - because it is like asking people whether doctoring is good or not and every body will discourage you. You should be confident in yourself and observe them from afar and move on if you believe you have some brain and lots of passion.

We used to have 3 million population.
Current aging population is from the 3 million period.
We imported new immigrants making new population 5-6 million to cover the aging 3 million.
In another 30 years time, we will have to import another 6 million to make the population 12 million to cover the aging 6 million.
In 60 years time, we will need 24 million to cover the 12 million.

If our problem with foreigners is some earn more than us, become sme boss then.
If our problem with foreigners is they hold a large portion of our job mkt, then produce more babies to replace them.
If our problem with foreigners is overcrowding, then just treat it like shopping in upmarket malls or pasar malams
If our problem is with chinese foreigners driving ferraris, then follow the ang mos in spore don't buy cars and travel in public tpt.
The fact that spore can be so vibrant it must be because we are a not bad place to live and work. Why sporeans should complain then?

importing of foreigners DOES NOT solve the aging problem. It will aggravateit, cuz the foreigners-turned-citizens are not producing babies.
It's so sad that we always have to wait every 5 years to hear the govt say they have done wrong, ie the general election time. From now till Dec 2015, the govt will insist on bringing foreigners will solve every bit of the national issues.
