Recently, I heard a report that the average age in China is 35, and with no changing of the one-child policy , China could miss being a developed nation. May be on top of changing the one-child to 2/3-child policy, it has to follow spore by opening up to foreign talents and less restrictive on foreign investment. However, this is even harder to do basing on spore experience since China is such a big country. To make things worse, its central govt is facing huge task of cleaning up corruption even though its people are still respecting the central govt so far.
For human reproduction.. a man and a woman.
China is mostly men now... because of their one child policy...and gender selective abortions and abandonment.
Unless one china woman is going to have several husbands .. their population is going to implode.
They can import more women.. from where ? Oh that's right.. from North Korea.
They have problems before, they have problems just a few years ago, they are having problems now, they will manage any problems when it comes and survive.
No country have ever reached the stage where everything is solved, it will always be one problem to the next, one crisis to the next one.
China won't need more young people to support the old. When old people retire, they just go back to the countryside where it is cheap, to live or die.
I rather they have a smaller population, with better quality of life and better moral values, than so many people, with lack of moral values. I mean, wah lao, people dying in front so many people just pass by don't care...

in what universe, average 35?
Can you please post your source? Because your claims are quite ridiculous really.
erh...maybe it is 53? google the subject and you find aging PRC population esp Shanghai......% pass 60 increasing fast and their CPF kosong...so how to tap from younger contribution?...so need to increase young people contribution to distribute to older generation.
they are talking about geo-2nd child policy ONLY for selected tier-1 city. But like sg...too late.....coz people cannot afford 2nd child due to living/bring up cost.... so the very rich can have ........no need look far.....PRC only need to look at Sg or HK see if 2nd child policy can succeed or not.
Quality of life?...this is process of civilisation.....needs time....we in Sg came to today after many decades...likewise with HK..........for PRC too much too soon is a tall order....can their ppl learn to be civilise to Sg std or HK std? manners, etc etc... you find them still talking loud on phone on streets,...spitting,...littering, pushing, not queing...all these social values develop by process of civilisation.....money cannot buy.
As for English as 2nd language....it has been there eversince....and they need to pass in Gaokao......Eng is 150 points...total gaokao is 750 points.....yet cannot pass because too many chinese....and Eng not working language...unlike us...x-Brit colony and we speak Eng because it is prime language and many of us are non-Chinese. Putonghua not our common language but mix of many dialects....so English is common......to all Sg people regardless of race or creed.....PRC dif...It is CHINESE period. They tried to encourage Eng....in School long time ago and still do. but for exam only. After passing exam, forgotten becoz no practice...why no practice ..coz Chinese only is used in biz and everywhere.... HK not same....English is their working language but Mandarin getting more used.
drop a stupid post and disappear forever....don't waste time responding.
