"At least, he has 7As and was in the Dean's List every semester. And you?"

Yes acid-jie.

My kids count with 2 hands...
"If you haven't scored that many As in your life, you will tend to think everyone else should also remember their grades easily."
>Implying that the number of A's are not important... The testimony is in the certification. One glance is all it takes...
"If you had gotten a First Class Honours and was in the Dean's List for every consecutive semester, you might have been in a better position to make that statement."
So one has to be a good cook to appreciate good food now? Fallacious...
I am appalled by your flawed analogies. SImply put, your statements are meaningless and irrelevant. You should continue to teach your kids how to count with two hands just in case they have more than 4 As later in life.
Gee.
I can't wait for you to get past the 5 min per post stage.

Mediocrities typically love to use derogatory adjectives on others.

How is it flawed when its not even an analogy? Unfortunate that people nowadays don't understand rhetorics. Shameful that they confuse the two different terms...
Education... how does thou work?

In case you didn't notice, ^that's a unproven anecdote.
If the student who got rejected from NUS scholarship is "pitifully", he/she have not read the worst news yet. (See middle report)
Hot topic ma.
Like how I am trying to assess the affordability of HDB for the poor.
Thankfully the locals I work with have CAPs above 4.5 and have proven themselves to be pretty sharp-witted.
That should make life a little easier for me.
Heck, I have a feeling that the results will be quite surprising.

Its fun. But are you sure someone is not involved? Even remotely related?
"In the name of my grand... I shall...." "The murderer is among us!"

No wonder. People who claim others are liabilities are often mediocrities themselves. lol
6 distinctions for O Levels. Same for the A Levels.
So..... nopes. I need two hands.
Currently on a scholarship myself.
Damn, this is one entertaining thread.

lol. Your statement above shows how immature you are.
Have you ever asked your colleagues how they think about you?

Umm....why ever for?
This is a little beyond me and admittedly floored me too.
You mean before opening the project or wrapping it up, you asked: Eh, so how you think of me ah?

this is getting exciting...who says the writer not involved, someone just joined this forum for this thread only, may be to defend himself lah....

Otherwise, people will merely see you as a scorned loser.
In life, I win some I lose some, but what I win and lose never depended on how many As I had.
If the rejection by NUS for a scholarship is your first failure in life, you don't know what life is yet..., if this is how you handle failure, you will need more than just a forum to kpkb.
Life is surreal.

At the very least it gives the impression that you're a person who cannot remember simple basic facts about himself.
At the very worst it makes the interviewer think that your certs might have been falsified.
Go figure.
Seems that people are generally more inclined to believe pitiful plights than self proclaimed achievements.
There could have been some unknown reason why he couldn't secure the NUS scholarship, something which he does not find convenient to disclose. Or it could have been because he had rejected the earlier scholarship and hence blacklisted.
You people are too free.....that I have to log in and comment. Just chill, enjoy your weekend and let loose.

Pot, meet kettle.

Puffer fishes typically love to sprout technical jargon to hide their ignorance. I have seen just too many of such pompous humbugs in the university. They just can't answer simple fundamental questions and have to resort to flooding others with sophisticated garbage and confusing them even more in the end. And yes, education is a waste of money on them.
These people seem to have lost their ability to reason and yet do not wish to appear 'scoopid' so resort to sprouting technical nonsense.

The other guy SBS??? claims that he is competing with top-tier China/Indian scholars. I was trying very hard to suppress my laughter.
Get out of Singapore and see the rest of the world. You do not know what is real talent yet. If you are doing a PhD in Harvard or MIT, your statement might have seemed more credible.

When all you have is a hammer, everything else looks like a nail.
finally someone understands what im trying to say :)
for i believe real smart ppl who are high flyers use their brains to store other necessary information for their papers/research whateverr rather than remembering how many As they had.
Good morning all, its a wet Monday. Not quite good for laundry. sigh
First class honours = Top Local Talent? Getting first class wasn't much of a challenge actually...
I took an additional 20 Modular Credits at NUS over rquirements and still got the first class. Probably I'm dumb for taking extra classes that doesn't contribute much to my grades, and in fact risking myself on lower grades ==> I'm not a top local talent liao :(
Questions for pondering by a not-talent:
1) Are you learning and studying purely for the grades or are you learning and studying for interest and self-improvement? Interest and personal development comes first for me. Grades just magically appear by itself after that.
2) What truly defines talent and success?
