Anyhow, I enjoy interactions with the smart PRCs and Indians.
So do the smart Singkies.
You learn so much from interacting with global talents and being inward-looking gets you no where.
My point is that, if you can't show that you can match these people, getting a CAP 4.8 makes you an underachiever then.
If he is a consecutive dean-lister (ok, that's good), why is he comparing himself to "foreign 2nd-rate talents"?
i tink he probably felt he is good and yet even he is good, he felt that better treatment was going to those foreign 2nd rate talents who aint even better than him. So he probably questions "why are ppl lousier than me getting better stuffs"
That's sad of him then.
I am 2nd-rate, but I'm competing with the top-tier local AND foreign talents, while the so-called first rate does nothing but whine.
He must be like the one of the "talent" who tried to swim out of Tekong.
A liability in short.
well... yes there are first rate foreigners... but there also are 2nd rate foreigners enjoying very good treatment. You may enjoy being with first rate foreigners but probably not the 2nd/3rd rates. and they are just getting more and more.

you are really sgdiehard!! LOL!! so instead of letting local arrogant idiots pick and choose, we let foreigners come in and pick and choose + get things free... end result is that arrogant or not, singaporeans still lost the chance. I think thats his gist of the article. A comparison b/w locals and foreigners. Not local and local.

'hmmm ask around'?
You're not sure? You can't verify your sources?
Sorry, you're exactly like that guy who was not sure about his own A Level results.
anyway i guess that person who left that article will eventually seek his ricebowl outside of sg.LOL

lol... yea i cant varify since i dun work inside there :) but when i look at the general trend it seems that way i guess. As for the not sure about his own A level results. If im really a high flyer uni students, i probably wont rmb my A level result too.
Too bad.
My "2nd-tier" friend with a first-class CAP but zero leadership positions and zero CCA got himself a grant from a scholarship with no strings-attached.
Even he was surprised that it was a relative shoo-in.
So that fellow is sure that "he tried to apply to a scholarship"? The no-strings type?
Oh wait.
Its too insignificant for him to remember.
Smart people like him have more important things to do.
Like whinging.

Imagine working with the person as ur boss
"No~ I'm telling U I'm 1001% right. U must listen to me"
Imagine when working with the person as a subodinate
"U're just bias. I got better ideas (which I say and have no proof) but yet u chose someone else"
Either way, he's not going to be too productive...

I remember my Bachelor's point average and honours class (from 4 years ago), A Level results (11 years ago), O Level results (13 years ago) and PSLE results (17 years ago).
If he can't remember his own A Level results.... that makes him a liability.
A HUGE one.
thats new to me... i din know not remembering results turns someone into a liability.

being not bothered to check things, no matter how simple by flipping some files, checking old records is a liability...
hard to get anywhere with that mentallity...
besides what's the intention of leaving that sentence about "cannot remember clearly" in the article? it would be more productive if it was left out...

In the middle of an interview for an academic scholarship? That's a big liability.
At the very least it gives the impression that you're a person who cannot remember simple basic facts about himself.
At the very worst it makes the interviewer think that your certs might have been falsified.
Go figure.

This guy claimed to be the "top local talent", so he thinks he is better than MOST locals!! He calls the foreigners "second rate", who is he to judge? Was his position finally gone to a foreigner, or is it just his assumption that since he didn't get it, it must have gone to a foreigner, was there no other locals?
Only those who need the scholarship and agree with the terms and conditions set out by the sponsoring organizations need apply, even if you are getting the money from your mammy and daddy, you must have their agreement. If you apply and reject when offered, you are wasting time and efforts of the other party, and deprived the others of the opportunities! nothing to do with foreigners or locals.
Secondly, applicants who are arrogant and shows signs of flaw characters should be rejected straight away!! it doesn't matter locals or foreigners, and it doesn't mean if we don't give it to the foreigners we should give it to you!!
This guy is a prick and a shithead...., you feel how he feels???
Originally posted by [imdestinyz]:anyway i guess that person who left that article will eventually seek his ricebowl outside of sg.LOL
you gonna miss him?
Originally posted by SBS2601D:I guess that he goes to interview and person asks him....I see that you have straight As for A level.
He goes: Ohhhh...is it??? Ahhhh....but that was too easy.
He scored 7As not just 4As.
People who did not score as many As typically can easily remember how many As they scored for the rest of their life. They can easily count with one hand.
If you haven't scored that many As in your life, you will tend to think everyone else should also remember their grades easily.
When all you have is a hammer, everything else looks like a nail.

If you had gotten a First Class Honours and was in the Dean's List for every consecutive semester, you might have been in a better position to make that statement.
Otherwise, people will merely see you as a scorned loser.

I see why. You can easily count how many As you scored with one hand?
No wonder. People who claim others are liabilities are often mediocrities themselves. lol
You missed all the above points.
Its his flippant attitude that leaves him little room for support. Certainly as I had mentioned, if he gets rejected multiple times, there must be good reasons.
And what kind of excuse did you come up with?
I can recall every single one of my module grades, A level score, O level and so on. Precisely because I have a variety of grades should have in fact made it harder to recall if I follow that logic of yours!
In case you wonder, his 7 As is not as rare as you might seem to imagine. That makes him far less indispensible than you might think too.
Certainly if you enter an honours programme, you'll see such people in bountiful numbers.

No.
Education doesn't make for wisdom, dude.
"People who did not score as many As typically can easily remember how many As they scored for the rest of their life. They can easily count with one hand."
My kids count with 2 hands...
"If you haven't scored that many As in your life, you will tend to think everyone else should also remember their grades easily."
>Implying that the number of A's are not important... The testimony is in the certification. One glance is all it takes...
"If you had gotten a First Class Honours and was in the Dean's List for every consecutive semester, you might have been in a better position to make that statement."
So one has to be a good cook to appreciate good food now? Fallacious...

why chiu go nom nom flame bait?
to them, the point is not talent or not talent... is local or not local...
as long as local, everything can be justified
Hmmm, suddenly I realised that sounded sooo cheena nationalist...

Btw, how do you know you are really competing with 'top-tier local AND foreign talents'? Are you sure these are not just some '2nd/3rd-tier talents' who claim that they are 'top-tier'?
And you have the cheek to write 'I'm competing with the top-tier local AND foreign talents'. Seems that you are even more arrogant that the guy with 7As. At least, he has 7As and was in the Dean's List every semester. And you?
