  Thus it is understandable when the citizens say, that the two big businesses that sustain the government and gives us impressive GDP figures are 1) the casinos 2) property speculation. No prize for guess who are the ones that suffers -the citizens of course!

  land scarce is a fact, not an excuse for anything.

  Who benefit from higher property prices? who are the people paying for the higher prices? you are talking about HDB, condo or landed?

  With better economy, property prices in the whole region went up. The problem in Singapore is with the concept of asset enhancement promoted by Mah BT, people were very happy because they thought their properties were worth more than what they had before. But only when their children come into the market to buy house, then do they realize the consequence.

  Lets recognise it, the existing home owners are all too happy with higher prices! who wants to take a 500k loan, to pay for a house that is worth 400K.

  It is the new comers who are suffering.  Growth in itself is not a problem, it is the failure to anticipate the need to cope with the growth, more houses, more hospitals, more MRT, ....that is the problem.
