who not working for the $?
Chan chun sing say i believe we pap mp stand out to politics to serve the people and voice out concerns. We are not for money.
But Lee Hsien Loong say Money is influence people to join politics.
Double standard leh. god also them, ghost also them.
May i know tin pei ling got what experience??? getting a nice kate spate experience right.
Guys ask yourself this question. TPL or Nicole seah better.Answer from your heart.
Grace Fu is right.
Without million dollar salary, it will be harder to attract talent to join PAP.
Sucking up and kow towing is very expensive.
“Paying people correctly is part of the answer,” Lee said on how to get the best people to form the Cabinet. “It is not a bidding war where if you get the cheapest [minister], you will get the best value for money,” he added.
“Can we afford to risk our country’s future on the assumption that salaries do not matter?” he asked.
the pay revision (if any) must not affect those officials that below them, due to the present moment in singapore living standard, and some part of the world. economy need income to generate as no income no economy movements, because the formula of economy has been created since anciently in the great old day. Singapore should more forward with joys, lovingkindness and not stagnant on mere salary structure that generate the atmosphere of uncertainty and undue stress.

Grace Fu was completely right: PM LeeBy Fann Sim | Yahoo! Newsroom - 4 hours ago
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong defended Member of Parliament (MP) Grace Fu on Tuesday, noting that Fu was right in saying that further pay cuts will make it more difficult to get anyone to consider joining politics.
"If the pay is not competitive, then it's just another obstacle to people who have got something valuable to add to Singapore,” Lee said in a speech at Parliament to discuss ministerial pay.
"Grace Fu was completely right on this point. She got flamed online but she was honest to point this out," he added.
Fu, who is also the Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and the Ministry of Communication, Information and the Arts, was flamed heavily online after posting a controversial Facebook message on 4 January this year.
She posted on her Facebook page: "When I made the decision to join politics in 2006, pay was not a key factor. Loss of privacy, public scrutiny on myself and my family and loss of personal time were. The disruption to my career was also an important consideration. I had some ground to believe that my family would not suffer a drastic change in the standard of living even though I experienced a drop in my income. So it is with this recent pay cut. If the balance is tilted further in the future, it will make it harder for anyone considering political office."
According to recommendations made by the ministerial pay committee in a report released on 4 January, the salaries of Singapore ministers should be cut by 37 per cent to $1.1 million, while the Prime Minister should get a 36 per cent cut to $2.2 million.
if what he said is true, then how do the govt of other countries attract people?
lets take hong kong as an example. they dont pay as much as our govt do. but hong kong is doing as well as singapore. so what made them do it?

don't think Hong Kong is doing well as Singapore in any way!
First of all, they are different. Before 1997, they were colony of the UK, the head of state was a the governor, after 1997, they have Chief Executive, there were no president nor prime minister, there were no election. They came under the umbrella of the British Empire and the PRC.
The governor of HK made as much money as possible for their queen, that is why before 1997, many projects were given to the british to ensure as much money go back as possible. Could the HK people do anything? After 1997, the people are still trying to interpret the Basic Law.
Ask the HKger if they have the right people in the government, and none will say they do. For the rich are in control of the major business, especially properties in HK. The government tried to build cheap housing like in Singapore for HK, the property tycoon said as long as you don't affect our business, and the project 胎æ»è…¹ä¸ã€‚For the smart HK people, it is better to make the money in private sector, and if the company is big enough, they can also influence the politician who serve the people.
The HK government don't manage HK as our government, when their economy down, beijing government let the PRC tourists come in, when they need to boost their financial services, the beijing government allow RMB to be traded off shore in HK; no water, the GZ government connect the tape, and who dare to attack HK, when you would be facing the PLA, just have the 飞虎队,to inspire the movie industry....the main task of the HK government, in the meantime, is to handle the PRC immigrants including the pragnant china women, please the many Maria who try to stay there permenantly, and train their people to speak mandarin, to capitalize on the influx of mainland tourists.
Compared to Singapore, there is one thing they do extremely well, they run the MTR very well....may be we should call our system MTR instead of MRT.
Can anyone please tell me why Bukit Batok got 3 MPS.??? we dun need too many MP to serve the people.
high salary is to attract talents. So the PM said.
Therefore, they got new blood like TPL. Clever. Can anyone enlighten me what TPL can do that an average Singaporean cannot do?

I meant other than that (and got a nice bag and married someone related to the party)...
Worker's Party made some recommendations:
They are always right.
You are always wrong.
What can you do about it?
ya, if they decide to say our mothers got moustache, they will always have their ways to argue their point.
if they can narrow the income gaps, i dun mind their high pay....but what have they done on that?
pegging pay to critical performance indicators are a good measure of how much they shd be rewarded....
surely one of such indicators must be narrowing of income gaps...if they can achieve it, pay them high
understanding the complex civil servants' pay scale does not weigh as importantly as how much the people are receiving in return...
They cannot reduce overcrowding, improve transport or save orchard road from ponding.
They cannot even give the poly student their entitlement on transport concession.
what kind of talent do they really possess ?
Mr L and Mr T, if both of you have prove your worth and solved the issues incurred by all the "talents", I dun think you even have cut your pay or defend yourself.
Because you know very well you dun deserved it, you have to DEFEND so hard with all the hollow argument and weak defence.
Dun have to use stupid excuse on not attracting talent if they are like Miss Tin Tin or Mr $10 Chai Teow Kway.
I still don't see any justification for overpaying the ministers. Don't they see the overpayment is already turning our little red dot to a little black dot.
