SINGAPORE: The committee set up to review political salaries submitted its report to the Prime Minister on Friday afternoon.
This was confirmed by its chairman, Gerard Ee, on Friday.
The government says it is studying the report.
Channel NewsAsia understands that the report is expected to be made public in early January next year.
It also understands from several Members of Parliament that the report is expected to be debated in Parliament soon.
Next
month could see two sessions of Parliament - one on January 9 as
announced by the Clerk of Parliament and a second sitting on January 16.
The
committee to review political salaries was set up after Prime Minister
Lee Hsien Loong announced the decision to do so in his speech at the
swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet at the Istana on May 21 this
year.

A lot of people say the salaries will be made even less transparent.
After all, why tell the public how much you earn when you know they will kpkb over it?
i dont think i will see any real downsizing of their salary
i wouldnt expect them to upsize their salary due to public angst
i am seeing a series of odd adjustments that will more or less leave the salary unchanged

The formula to calculate their salary could become very complicated with 601 variables.

thats was 50 years ago
now its 6542 variables
and its too complicated to calculate all our national reserve so dont bother
WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT NEED TO SET UP A COMMITEE TO 'REVIEW' THEIR OWN SALARIES?
WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF FUNDS.
JUST PEG THEIR SALARIES TO THE CURRENT CIVIL SERVICE SCHEME.
U DON'T NEED A COMMITTE!
So if they are not happy with recommendations, then they will just ignore it?
because of the trauma caused by the review, they are giving themselves a raise
because it's the committee that recommended a salary increase lor.. not they ask for it themselves...
Just a show. Whatever it is the top priority is still money greed, money top the list. It is money these sickos greedy shits are in to "take care" of Singapore. If their salary is reduced to that of the third world govt don't think they will stay on.

hahahah harnor harnor. sure one. not surprised.
Who knows, may reduce the monthly salary and increase the bonus lor. Or additional benefits like whole entire and extended family get free education free medical.
Or somebody will act up the negative impact or repurcussion of pay review and then gahmen will point fingers back at us saying "See? Ministers should get higher pay".. blah blah blah...
Come on la... who wants to get a pay cut? We the commoner get $50 pay cut already dai ji liao liao. You think they stupid enough to swallow this meh? Or maybe they think we are just stupid enough to believe lor.
Finally the wayang report is out.
Everybody so skeptical about this exercise.
Haiz.

------ such a condescending response. You are positive about it, you encourage constant salary increase????
Isn't there any other better authority or person to submit the report to? They should be somebody in the higher authority control their salary.
It is inappropriate to submit to the damn ah dou Lee Hsien Loong.

will they need another committee to check these variables?
if so, then in order to save taxpayers money we have no choice but to let the current salary scale remain?

It's probably some complicated wage structure that requires Phd level maths knowledge.

Actually I am sure many people will want to know if they are keeping the pension part.
This was a red hot topic among the public when they were reminded of it.
Seems very unfair that a minister can get pension for doing nothing after he retires.
But for the average people like us, we can't even smell our cpf.
most don't even have much of a CPF left after buying their HDB flat

So if people need money and downgrade to a cheaper and smaller hdb flat, I think part of the proceeds from the sale will have to go back to cpf to cover the minimum sum right?

do u know that the sub prime crisis was created by these PHD fellows, to create a complex web of financial weapons of mass destructions that created this mess.
Temasek Holdings have many PHD people working there right, to advise the CEO Ho Ching, why is it then that Temasek went to invest in citigroup in 2007 when it was going to implode in 2008 with the collapse of Lehman Brothers in september 2008.
