how much is a minister paid in a month? a HOD in a big company is usually paid 25k a month. so a minister pay should be 100k a month, fair?

I agreed with nungel.
Singapore gahmen claims to have no corruption, why?
Because they legalised their own corruption !! They are legitimately corrupt !!
CPF, COE, ERP, just to name a few.
With so many taxes here and there to fill up their wallets, coupled with their million salaries, its a windfall every month !!
Who will need to embezzle money, with a paycheck like that?

New form of corruption to get highest million dollars obscene pay.
No check and balance encouraged, the doubt of corruption is justifiable.
PAP ministers' salary is not only a national embarrassement, it is global embarrassment.
Foreigner to Singaporean: You have the highest paid govt in the world. They are not taking care of your welfare. They have their agenda to take care over the priority of citizens. Not worth the money to give them highest pay. You people in Singapore complain so much about the govt, why do you people vote them in to give them the mandate every election?

Those complain are probably 40% of the voters.

My prediction is it takes at least 10 yrs to get them out.
Who knows before we can wait after 20 yrs, the world ends.
Since everybody not happy with ministers salaries, then maybe they should draft out how much they should get per month.

Not necessarily so. Those voters for PAP also complain about PAP. Complain about the rise in the cost of living. I told them if they vote PAP then don't complain, they vote PAP means they are agreeable with PAP on the rising cost of living.

We will never know who vote who.
Seriously speaking cost of living has been increasing....I am sure everybody feel the effect .

I don't think the PAP will accept suggestion from the public, they never want to accept suggestion from the ground.
They have the committee headed by Gerard Eee to review the salaries.
However, I have no confidence in Gerard to do a good job.

Why is it that we will never know who vote who?
I have people telling me they vote PAP.
Those tell you are truly supporter or rather die hard fan of pap.

True supporters and die hard fans, aren't they the same?
It takes a politically mature nation to vote for the good for the nation.
Dun worry, the world ends 2012. No more singapore. So no more PAP to torture u. Happy now?
its either something in the movie"2012" happens or a super solar flare destroy all our electronics items in singapore and send us back to stone age! Woohoo!!!!

if everybody vote for opposition what do you think would happen?
do you think the current opposition is good enough to form a government?
there will be chaos!!!
even though we are angry we must understand it takes time for things to change. and there is no such thing as a perfect govt or country. there are bound to be policies that make you unhappy. until we have a party good enough to replace PAP it is better things remain status quo.

If everybody kiasu kiasi thinks like you PAP will remain forever and singaporeans continue to be treated 2nd or 3rd class in our own country.
You think LKY before he becomes govt is good and has experience to govern. Your mentality is so outdated. With people like you no wonder we are forever stuck with PAP. LKY did once admit that his stop at 2 policy is a mistake though he did not offer apology for it. From the way you sound like as if PAP is best in taking care of singaporeans than any of the existing opps. tsk tsk tsk, ridiculous! knn!
Give yourself a choice, life is full of choice, from buying fashionable clothes to foods to cars etc etc, and in term of politics, we should have more choices, more varieties and more parties in the parliament, then we can all said, we hv a genuine debates before a bill was past, with PAP alone and not much other variety, parliamentary session is really a joke, issue would had been discussed, endorsed, chopped and the parliament, instead of a place to sort out proposal and agree upon by all concern, it become a place for announcing new bills.
I will strongly encourage singaproeans to be more global and free in a sense to get more various party peoples who wish to serve into the parliament, then issues like foreign policy, high cost of living, social safety net like CPF issue etc etc will be better debated, screened and decided

This is a logical fallacy. Why would everybody vote for oppo?
And similarly, what is happening now, is that everyone is hoping that someone else will vote for oppo, which, as the results of the GE shows, not enough did.

I strongly agree.
In the one year leading up to elections, people are already making alot of noises regarding transport, cost of living, housing and immigration.
The PAP proceeds to pay lip service, by 'promising' to change and reflect upon their practices, with the PM's pre-election day apology being the climax.
But post-election, we see them back to their old ways. nothing has changed. Nothing will change.
1)
We retrenched people during the recession. We are still in the process of recovery, and using the STI as a guage, we are nowhere near our peak prior to the global recession.
But: Since we are supposed to be recovering, with a diminished economy which requires a smaller workforce, how come we did not see any decrease in our population throughout the years of the recession?
Instead, we continue seeing an increase of population, especially in the number of work permit workers.
2)
The PAP promised to bring down housing prices. Pre-election, post-election, all I have seen are reports showing that housing prices continue to climb, with the greatest rise in the prices of HDB flats.
3)
Revamping of our transport infrastructure is long overdue. The opening of the Circle line is necessary, and timely. But it does not fully solve the problem.
It serves to link up estates previously not included in the mrt network, providing these people with an alternative transport to bus. This only serves to increase our MRT's passenger base, where some people will switch from bus to mrt.
People who live in the north along the red line, and the east, along the green line, will have little benefits from the opening of the circle line.
The main issue with our rail transport is overcrowding, and the difficulty of boarding the train during peak hours. It is pointless to introduce more rail lines downstream, when overcrowding typically happens in the upstream heartlands. e.g. Jurong East, Yishun.
Yes, people may get off at Bishan and switch to circle line, thus freeing up some space on the stuffy train. But all that is irrelevant if you cannot even board the train from your estate in yishun.
What LTA can do, is to encourage public bus operators to use high capacity bendy buses or double decker buses, instead of the mad rush for the newer handicap-friendly euro V buses, which has a much reduced carrying capacity.
With buses of decreased capacity, you need to hire more drivers, put out more buses, ramped up frequency. Our buses seem overworked, with increasingly common cases of buses catching fire on the road.
Secondly, a major cause of traffic jams on road are caused by traffic lights and junctions. It is common to see a long line of vehicles along the exits of expressways, where they are held back by traffic lights which take forever to turn green, and by ceaseless cars who doesn't give way. Also, travelling down a street, we are often amazed by the proximity of traffic lights. Unnecessary stoppage time will decrease the smoothness of traffic flow.
What we can do, is the removal of redundant traffic lights. Since people are too lazy to climb bridges, why not leave the climbing to the vehicles? We can build ramps or tunnels at pedestrain crossings, thus bypassing the need to stop on straight roads.
assigning of dedicated filter lane. We usually have a give way line at filter lanes, where we are expected to give way to oncoming traffic on main road before proceeding. This is responsible for the daily jams we see at major expressway exits like corporation road, changi exit etc.
Why not open up a dedicated lane for vehicles merging left? Then there will be no need to stop and bring about a backlog of jams. This will also enhance traffic flow.

PAP is sick now, a mild female cancer is detected, it needed to treat fast to get away the cancer, if not, the cancer will slowly spread all over the pap and pap will died in another 10 to 20 yrs.
