Bring this back to the context of the big gap between the filtily high government salaries and the "competitively prices" of our workers, the same principle applies. go figure why people are whining.....may be a $50 prostitute wont mourn....

Isnt that what makes life so worth living ? a salary gap . sosial status gap . third world country and first world country gap . super power nation and famine-all-the-year nation . it gives dreams a value . it makes us feels good to be in the upper hand and not the otherwise . it makes a difference between those who do not suffer from HIV and those who do .
Talk about social responsibility . everybody is selfish . we look at the ministers' salaries like a newbie to a company look at the salary of the chairman or the CEO . same thing different context . the point is we should welcome competition and fight it with one . The point is we need to refresh our state of mind from sounding like losers to a group of people who are aspiring .

Not sure how the ministers think when you claim they have no sense of social responsibility. You are selfish, not everybody.
You make the money but lose your soul. That is not something to aspire.

I agree with Kosen. I aspire to be rich and be able to teach people fishing so that I have buddies to fish with. The government is just selling/ renting the boats.

Hmmm . I can see your point . I was once like that . but it was a phase . we all get thru it .I do make a very clear line between personal feelings and business . if you run your own business and you operate solely on soul or compassion . u will lose your money .
I see it in a rather different way . for instance imagine you have a 'good' that you know should worth S$500 and a man came and offer S$800 for it and told you it is a collector's item . and then a granny came and told you her grandson wanted it for so long and offer you S$450 for it . who would you be selling the 'good' for ?
I would dismiss the granny politely and bid that 'collector's item' dude S$1.200 . take it or leave it . why ? because now I see that the perceived value of the 'good' is more than expected .

Tell me what institution is bigger than current governing systems that control a whole country's population's everydays' supply and demand? A governance is THE institution that was elected by the same populace to lay control on itself in the name of democracy. The ultimate power still lies in the people.
