Despite an earlier backlash over his comments made at a YPAP dialogue recently, unpopular PAP Youth Minister Chan Chun Sing continues to taunt young Singaporeans that they are ‘not doing more’ for their nation.
In an interview with Straits Times Insight yesterday, Mr Chan said it is the ‘responsibility’ of the younger generation to understand why certain policies are formulated to begin with, as well as the pros and cons of alternatives.
He believes that ‘a population which wants the Government to do more to engage them must themselves also engage.’
‘The larger issue is sense of ownership. People don’t belong to their country because the country gives them things. They belong to the country also because they do things for the country, he added.
Singaporeans have done many things for their country such as serving National Service, paying income taxes, producing new ‘economic digits’ to keep the GDP growing and keeping their CPF monies in the PAP coffers till they step into their graves, but what has the PAP regime given them?
Mr Chan has been making ‘waves’ in cyberspace lately with a series of outrageous remarks such as calling on Young PAP members to reclaim cyberspace from the ‘lunatic fringe’ in snide reference to PAP critics.
Being a former high-ranking general in the army, Mr Chan is hampered by his ‘top-down’ approach and ‘robotic’ style of communication in his efforts to reach out to young Singaporeans who dislike his condescending style.
This fellow keeps 纸上谈兵, what has he done to serve the nation?
Can tell this fellow has lots of resentment towards the people in this country.
Damn la, then he should not accept the job to serve the people to be a PUBLIC SERVANT.
When people do things for the country which are contrary to their interests, they get harassed by police and get sued.
So how?
when there is no people, it's just a piece of barren land country or not.
The people who pay the govt the salary are the bosses of the govt. People have resentment towards them because they excel in self serving and give no good service and performance.

People get sued is a way of contributing to their profit making, nothing wrong.
Guys serve NS for the country.
Girls bear children to contribute to the country's economic money making machine.
What more they want us to do?

Right.
Saying that the govt has been trying to engage so the people need to 'do their part' seems like a self-pitiful statement. The govt is elected by the people, so they've done their part to elect you, so shut up and do your job.....properly!
If the public isn't engaging, then its your responsibility to find new ways so that they are more motivated to do so, not just point the finger and say we've done our part, now do yours.
When your efforts include using Lady Gaga rip-offs to try to 'engage' the new generation.....no wonder no one gives a s#$%!
Time to smelll the roses.
Why do ministers like to talk down and rhetorical lectures? lol. It must be a pre-requisite before becoming one. And he wasn't even elected in the first place, what makes him think that people want to listen to him? Too much self importance.
Seriously, none of those keyboard warriors qualify as that either
