Singapore's Temasek chief likely to step down in August - Financial Times
SINGAPORE, June 9 |
SINGAPORE, June 9 (Reuters) - The Chief Executive of Singapore's state investor Temasek Holdings , Ho Ching, is likely to step down in August, Financial Times reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the matter.
Ho Ching, the wife of Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, has been executive director at the company since May 2002 and chief executive since January 2004.
The company decline to comment on the report.
Temasek is expected to release its annual report next month. Last year, the company posted a 43 percent increase in the value of its portfolio to S$186 billion. [ID:nSGE66708P]
The company named former BHP Billiton Chief Executive Charles Goodyear as designated successor to Ho in 2009, but he left the company a few months after, citing differences in strategy.
Temasek's focus on Asia, particularly at home in Singapore, increased in the 2009/10 financial year, and it said that strategy would be maintained for the forseeable future, given volatility in other world markets.
It has said 78 percent of its portfolio was in Asia as of end-March, up from 74 percent a year earlier. Investments in developed economies dropped to 20 percent from 22 percent. (Writing by Harry Suhartono; Editing by Vinu Pilakkott)

Possible. Lim Boon Heng said that Singaporeans may not want a President close to PAP.
But since there are 3 "opposition" candidates splitti.ng the vote (Tan Kin Lian, Tan Cheng Bock, mystery man), PAP may consider sending her.
George Yeo, Zainul and Nathan all said they have not made their decisions yet. They may give way to her.

I definitely don't want to see the husband as PM and the wife as President. No more from Lee family for me, enough is enough.
Step down in august.....presidential elections in sept....wah very nice!

Do you not observe usually their statements with "not confirm" are as good as confirmed? Many times their "not confirm" = confirm and materialise later.
Don't think PAP will send too many candidates and dilute their votes.
I can tell you, 60% voted for PAP. If a PAP person runs, all 60% will vote for her. The other 40% will be split between 3-4 people.
If she runs, they will surely speak to those "not confirmed" ones including George and Nathan, ask them not to run.

Are the citizens to vote this time?
Don't waste your time and energy again to quess if she is going to be the next president or not. Your vote whether yes or no does not matter at all. All the selection and voting for the new president is for wayang only. If she is going to be the next president then it will be so. How is it possible? You may ask. Remember, the P.A.P can make all these things possible. Do not underestimate their capabilities. So just sit back ,relax and watch the wayang.

presidency is out of the question. between her and tan kin lian, people know who to vote for. furthermore, singapore doesn’t want to be the first country in the world where the president is married to the prime minister. LHL will become first laddy.
Jayakumar just stepped in to correct what "Singaporeans think about the president".

PAP has long term plans for Singapore, you think they will change just because of a watershed election?
To see thru those plans, PAP needs control + wayang. Even if she does nothing, she will prevent some noisier fellow from occupying the post.
I believe she will run if Georgie and Nathan are not interested.
Becareful, whenever Ho Ching step down, something of a big lost is going to happen to temasek and GIC investment. Those buying stocks and shares, better thrown and gain some profit or breakeven. Ho Ching only rule when times are good
