I bet CNA is not ready for this - a recount. And they have crap to begin with. They could have done an analysis of what previous presidents have done, go into more detail of the constitution which entails what the president can or cannot do. Very sorely lacking in substance. No wonder people like christine han and martin soong left for greener pastures.

Once again, online sentiment does not translate into results at the polls. TJS got a respectable margin, but you can't help thinking that his supporters put the man they least wanted in office, and the MIW will ignore the fact that most of the electorate voted against TT.
Still, we have to respect the results, since the rules don't provide for a showdown between the top 2.

Tony Tan won by a narrow margin. The next exciting one is 2012 USA, south korea and Taiwan Presidential election. Those got more power also.

The result is expected. Those who want TT to be president will vote for him, those who don't want TT to be president, the votes are being spread out among 3 candidates. Before the election, many people were already talking about the expected result.

i expected a narrow win for TT too. 3 opposing candidates is really a bad idea.
but then i did not expect tan cheng bock to have such strong support.

Dr TCB has a very straong support in the west due to his very vocal and outspoken ways against the establishment, he has an independent mind instead of the newly ep who toes the party line...
A pity though Dr TCB lost, TT is a ruling elite YESMAN, dun trust him n never like him...
TKL is the entainer who should never run in the 1st place, make pple waste votes on him

But we have showed the SBF, SRA, 3/4 of the Unions, ... , their endorsement have no impact at all.
64% of the Singapore didn't voted for him.
We are defeated because our votes split among the 3.

I voted for TCB though. I knew TJS dont stand a chance when i saw his leaflets thrown all over the floor of my void deck. As for TKL, it was fairly obvious from facebook.
TT won. At least we wont have political argument on the news every month!!!

haha nw cannot be people's president coz onli abt a 3rd of Sgreans voted for the specs...
Some Sgreans r dump n they forgot easily > GIC bought certain foreign bank shares at a veri high price n tt resulted in a loss of part of our reserves...
but they still vote for the ex ruling elite...
when will SGreans learn?!

Queen, SGreans cannot think by themselves, newspaper keep on printing reports of endorsements by certain groups wic mislead n change their mind of who they actually wanted to vote for.
yest os a polling station in the east overheard an elderly man told his daughter[i tink] that you would be found out and bad things will happen to you if you vote anti-establishment instead or ruling elite endorsed candidate!

it should have been run like a round robin debate with the top 2 to speak again on TV and maybe earn some vote swings ... then Singaporeans will decide on polling date the actual elected president that they want for the next 6 years (but anyway, elected president also got no power to veto ... so why waste the time)
Its the same whether it is Nathan or Tony ! (have you wondered what happen to Devan, T. Cheong .... seriously ! I mean seriously) do you thing he actually put on the wig and go escapade, or TC actually can work with government when he found out about his new found Veto
People .... lets just sit down and think deeply .. does actually TT truly wants to run for President !!

I am not sure whether it is a good news or not for all the Sporean that tt is the ep.
TT won by the nose of the horse.
Simply put it, out of 10 pple, only 5 are in favour, 1 vote for tjs/tkl and 4 support tcb.
I am abit sadden that tcb lost as tcb are more humble and be able to connect to the ground.

When those supporters of TKL and TJS realised that they were no longer in the running, I'm pretty sure they threw their support behind TCB. 65% would have been happier had TCB won. Turned out they became sad. 65% of the country in mourning because TT won. Haha, this is the shakiest presidential start ever.
At the end of the day, Singaporeans are the losers because now there's no one to dig out info regarding the reserves, Temasek and their link with CPF funds. PAP is the ultimate winner because they have already done their analysis. Can read Temasek Review for more.
