actually, the problems is very hard to solve. there is simply not enough greenland to absorb the rainwater.
with so many building the rainwater falling on rooftop, concrete floor will be channel into the drainage system this will cause pressure cooking and cause them to overflow.
this is just another evidence of our singapore poor goverance that want to increase population and neglect public infrastructure. trains, housing, drainage......
i would strongly urge PUB or relevant ministry to come clean on the problems and advice the PAP govt the truth. dont fool us!!
I dont believe the Marina Barrage had no role in this...maybe PUB can clarify?
Marina Barrage prevents tidal floods in Kallang.
But causes rainwater floods when the barrage is too full and they don't let water out.
Sg is surrounded by sea but they can't get the water into the sea. Sad.
They can always install more pumps at the Marina Barrage to pump the water out to sea, like how the folks do it in Louisiana.
Pay multi-million dollar peanuts and you still get monkeys.

Entire palm trees disappeared in the water and people lost their lives!
Have some brains before you speak for god's sake. My relatives there had a nightmarish time of their lives in that particular CNY.
monsieur sbs,
just because your neighbour shit in his pants dont mean u need to do likewise!
how many times was johore village flooded as compared to singapore city?!!!how many!!?
perhaps its u who should try to grow a brain........on yer own body b4 spouting such third world rhethoric.
no wonder PAP won!sheesh.......makes me think sporeans cant count,,,cant reason how much flooding in a month they need .
for yer stupidity.....i have went thru the queensland flood which flooded the entire country which is around a thousand times bigger than singapore.as compared to yer flooding in asia...your problem can be solved if they had brainy folks left.

They can afford to drill more underground holes for mrts, why not drill one for water drainage? The hole is big enough to hold a train.

no idea....i dont claim to be engineer
dun need to be an engineer to say its goin to be flooded.its common sense.
I think there will be a solution but then.......after it completion......you people need to pay for it.....I mean in certain or another way, pple coming to orchard road will be more expensive....there will be charges...something like that.
No foc for everybody in the shop.
My 2 cents worth.
primary or secondary maths would tell n reson to u in a week for flood problems in an already well designed drainage system.
eg) if 1 metre of drain with diameter of 30cm can channel say 30 gallons /hr
how many metres of drain do u need to cater for extrreme condittions such as 150 gallons/hr?
ans:sees primary school students furiously calculating answers.

problem is that after graduated, these primary school students went on to become models, saleperson of the year, admin executives in posh offices and luxury hotels, top banker, doctor , lawyer and entrepreneur like me, WTH with all these cm and gallons stuff, only for foreign workers.
Underground flats and nuclear reactors coming soon, mass water graves for all.
The Sinking of Singapore.

More expensive?
Charges?
You are not making sense.
If there are many potholes on the roads in Toa Payoh, the government fixes it, you expect them to charge everybody that walks or drive through it money?
It's not like the PAP government is running on a high deficit, they have surpluses almost every year and they are hoarding it at the expense of citizens.
These are termed "public good" everybody gets to enjoy it without penalties.
Maybe you are a proponent of ERP for human traffic to give PAP an excuse to suck more money from Singaporeans.
Say Bedok Reservoir overruns it's embankment, the water affects the residents of Bedok Reservoir, government fixes it, but charges all the residents for it?
Makes sense to you?
They dont have to charge openly and directly...they just make us work harder and tell us sweatshops are more productive than we are....shame on us etc.

u need gallons and systems when u sell and buy stuff in chemicals
everyone needs gallons and systems to understand how much is how much.foreign werkers u give them they can only do a little bit only with cm and gallon understanding.
its like u give a computer to 2 kids
one will take it n study computer hacking....other will just play games on it only.
it depend on who u give the cm and gallon standards and knowledge to......
or like some primates:
its not how big yer dick is or how small it is....its how u use it!!!
i wonder if vivian would have his ass greased by boss.

Hey, you stay in Bukit Timah is it?
i think building a reservoir at Turf City may be a good idea since bukit timah is prone to flood. it drains the flood quickly that way.
land cost? it can be expensive since alot of rich people stay there. however that land has bigger area than botanic gardens.

Let's just say they don't do it for obvious reasons. The dutch would have done it if it could solve their problems.

Well can we get the bldg to install water tanks that will keep the water whenever it rains, to be disposed off say 1 hr aft the rain, water has receded?
