Newspapers reported that the WP did not fix the lifts which broke down continuosly for 3 days. This caused major disturbances for the elderly residents.
Hope the Aju residents are not starting to regret their actions so soon

Let's get this straight. WP don't fix lifts. The property maintenance company contracted by the town council does.

Really? Well....we've got to give WP some time to get the hang of things. We knew that when we voted them in.
Btw....when you go to the one room flats, maybe even the three room flats in AMK GRC, one can almost always smell urine or some foul stench in the lifts. So the all the residents there must be real cheesed off that they gave PM a mandate. Hope they are not regretting it though.

Oh anyway, I heard the satellite ERP system is coming soon. It must have been in the pipeworks before GE and it may be silly and costly to dump it now.
Anyway, don't worry......they said "it will take a few more years". So don't worry....the 60% who voted PAP....it's not now.

Goh said MAYBE it will have an MRT and certainly not by 2020. The latest MRT line construction (Downtown line in the east) will be ready by 2018 and no Marine Parade.
Marine Parade has been promised and hinted for over 10 years but not delivered.

Then people might say reclaimed land harder to built MRT stations underground. But people will also ask, then how come the ones under nicoll highway, promenade, bayfront, esplanade, and marina stations can be built leh?

I want to point out DownTown Line at Bukit Panjang too. PAP said they line cannot curve so drastically from Cashew station to the middle of BP, so they must build it at the edge of town. Residents lan lan stuck with LRT.
Yet Circle Line made a tighter loop from Bras Basah, Esplanade and Promenade even with many buildings in the way.
I think they are more afraid nobody will take LRT and the system will grow cobwebs. Therefore must force in typical PAP style.

As was pointed out, WP has yet to fully take over the town council.
In other words, the town council is still (nominally at least) in the hands of the PAP.

Uhhh.... no.
Since the handover of the Town Council to WP has yet to take place, the Aljunied Town Council is still run by the PAP. It means that those unrepaired lifts are the responsibility of George Yeo and gang, and they didn't do their jobs properly in this respect.
Gosh man, you really don't understand what it means by 'Aljunied Town Council is still being run by the PAP?'

This idiot is a papayan puppy. WP only take over the town council today. Anyway LTK already mention that current contractor with town council can be renewed or change. Then I think he changes the lift maintenance contractor. I never regret and not going to regret for the next 5 years as I belong to 40% that vote against the papayan.I started to repent for my in laws and my grandparents when they voted for these kind of rubbish in parliment which is worse than a lift breakdown.

There were no reports of lifts breaking down or dirty staircases or houseflies swarming hawker centres in Aljinued when it was managed by the PAP.This is what the residents want and expect from the high PAP TC standards

WP don't take over Aljunied on 7 May2011, but when they take over. They will take over only when everything is in order. The accounts and the inventories.
The PAP has the responsibility to manage things until the hand over is completed.
The lifts continously breakdown for the last three days means the PAP has relinqished their responsibility and chaboted early, leaving Aljunied without government during the interim.
