Originally posted by andrea chanelle chia:Overall, I think this GE was quite a success in that there was greater participation by Singaporeans, and more were engaged in it. However, there is a need to further educate the population on the issues involved, and most of all, the younger generation should learn to consider IMPORTANT issues rather than debate about the appearance of certain politicians. In this aspect, the younger generation are seen to be focusing on the WRONG thing entirely.
(But of course, i acknowledge that not all of the younger generation are as puerile as that.)
Anyway, there has been much positive progress as a result of this GE, such as the increase in the no. of opposition in the Parliment and the fact that the PAP realises a need to improve itself-fast. This is not to say that I am pro-opposition. On the contrary, in fact, I'm a rather pro-PAP person, and as much as I acknowledge the efforts and achievements that the PAP has made over the years, it really does need some upgrading and this GE is the wake-up call for them to do just that. In addition. the presence of opposition would provide just enough checks on the PAP so that it would not lose its focus but not enough to threaten or hinder its progress.
On another note, i hope that Singaporeans would not be divided over the different parties or the different politicians. No matter who we support, everyone should remember that above all, we should be proud of our country because WE ARE SINGAPOREANS! :D
the HDB politics was the result of PAP's years of designed and built 20/80 rules to lobby for votes....
I honestly does not see our political discussion to evolve beyond HDB debates....not all countries have that kind of populations.
Elections is dead all over.....it is all about "pocket"

Comments are worth reading.
If PAP wins every election, my thoughts after election is NO PROGRESS for Singapore so long as the PAP rules. People will continue to pay more and more. Jobs will be taken by foreigners. PAP will continue to abuse us with words from their mouths. They will continue to show arrogance and talk down on us.

Yeah, let's "continue" to give him the chance for profiteering, help him to fatten his pockets and laugh all the way to the bank.

for people who were abused, there is no giving second chance...there is no right thing,........... die, die, die!!
Why you all so pessimistic?
Why?
Give them a chance to change lah.
Chance? there is only 2 chances in the casinos betting table, it is either win or lose, so can I ask the govt to give us a chance by not increasing our powersupply bills and transport fees? I dun mind saying sorry and apologise to the govt or LHL personality for not supporting them during the election.
