if there's anything abt public tpt, I can say there's improvement but it came too late - only last yr.
But the problem is it'll take another good year to resolve because the buses would be stucked in the traffic jams as well unless more bus lanes are created.
But her suggestion over the long distance bus route was one tat didn't go well with the infrastructure that they built
Wow, multicam tudung.

PAP MPs are also Ministers, & unlike those opposition just-MPs, they are busy and they even sacrifice their family tiem for residents' birthdays etc.
U want the tire our the PAP MPs and work for free?
Of course they have the right to feel disgusted, played out by the Aljunied residents after they have served them for more than 20 years.
Now Aljinued has lost 3 Ministers and one potential MP to serve them, Like MM Lee said, they will regret
aljunied don't need ministers to serve us. we just need an MP, member of parliament, not military police, to listen to us and bring the issues to the respective government depts, and the parliament.
regret? neh....if this pushed the PAP to think about the people, rather than the MNC or the GDP growth, or if this encourages more capable people to join the opposition, this election already mean something in the singapore politics. No regrets. MM Lee should first be the one to regret for what he said, it was widely acknowledged that he actually contributed greatly to the votes for the opposition.
It's a great day. Short of Vivian, Raymond Lim and MBT out, this is the best outcome many can dream of.

Dun need minister? Then how on earth a minister is apppointed? Unless you telling me you want to follow M'sia, defeated BN candidates can still fill some portfolio post.
A balance has to be struck. The way you put it is, we dun need MNCs then ppl no job, next thing ppl throw out the govt.
That's why I say Singaporeans aren't ready to take reponsbility yet.
That's why they deserve what they get.

Tell me what is the role of MP ELECT?
Why is he/she being ELECT?
Sit and shake leg in the office?

MP elect means elected to be MP but not yet become MP. Parliament haven't convened, wait 4-5 months.

What I am trying to say is that since it is the people elect him/her to be their mp, he/she should serve his/her people wholeheartly. Not what 'redWhite' has posted.
george yeo was a loss.
Lim Hwee Hua, well, simply good riddance.

Ministers are appointed from the elected MP, but not all MP will be appointed ministers. You elect MP to serve the constituency, not to become ministers!!
Yes, a balance has to be struck, but consideration for citizens cannot always come after MNC. MNC brings jobs, but it is in Singapore they make money, otherwise why don't they just go to malaysia?
If sinaporeans are not responsible, do you think the MNC will employ us?
PM already said - the major ministerial posts are finance and defence (for the obvious reasons). The rest of the ministerial posts, if helmed by weaker candidates, can be firmed up within the cabinet's framework of groupthink.
Interesting enough (as someone from another forum pointed out), prior to voting, VB denied there is groupthink within the cabinet.
But GY said he had been vocalising about the people's dissatisfaction as far back as ten years ago. He claimed that his voice was a minority within the cabinet, giving us the impression that the majority didn't agreed with him on this issue. But GY went along with the rest - a clear indication of groupthink.
There is no groupthink in the sense of them all thinking alike. But there is groupthink in the sense of them forming consensus among themselves and displaying a united front for the public.
VB was very cunning in giving us the impression that because there is no 'groupthink', views and opinions were actively sought and thoroughly scrutinised. If it's so, they won't be so clueless about the people's feeling.
I tend to agree with GY that within the cabinet, it's majority voices vs minority voices. He is out of both parliament and cabinet now - no need to be cautious with his words anymore.

as again, it's obvious only the best can be minister.
To me, it's the defence, foreign affairs, finance minister that has the highest portfolio aft the PM
you see, can Malaysia offer you R&D supporting facilities? Now cherish whatever we've, no doubt now the next 5 years is mostly cleaning up the mess and moving on
The responsibiliy is over politics. Sometimes practical minds overruns emotions. lol

what can I say.
the system we had of scholarship (it's more to do w/ the selection) nuture them highly, bring them overseas for the best env studies and they come back they immedaitely run higher post.
Take for example the NS reduction case during the election campaign period. I believe it was the ex scholar that came with it. Maybe it's coincidental I've no idea.
Let's put it, reduction is something everyone wants to look forward to. But operationally you end up with problems training officer (OCS takes a good 9 mths). You can say ppl can volunteer.
But implication is would people want knowing should they not opt, they can earn much more income than being in the conscript force. Neither is the govt going to start giving regular pay over this. Now it works out it may not be a good idea after all.
I guess it's time to let people run the show. I mean people who are passionate, know their things well, and able to weigh implications properly onto executing any policy changes.
It ought not to be a scholar's world anymore.
It is funny in singapore that some losers dun know how to quit.
When they lose, it is time to move on and shut up.
You will still be allocated in some cushy job in ah kong company and dun need to shake fish monger hand any more.
Dun make any commitment on quitting now and later regret and come back again.
It is time to focus on the new team and start to show what they can do.
A good coverage is the new MP for Hougang meeting his people with a school desk and not a comfy office with lots of bodyguards.
If the ruling party is sincere about serving the people, start doing the basics and stop all the wayang.
As for the resentment, it is strong since the last 5 years.
It goes to show how disconnected you are with the people and that is why you are voted out.
Carry on your regret and repent.

you are right, I see those signing petition for by election in potong pasir, they should learn to respect the wishes of the majority, who are prepared to give the young man a try; learn to respect the law, the result is final even if the win is by ONE vote.
The resentment is clearly reflected in the election result, its time for all to move on, dont' make those who voted you in regret and repent.

No wonder Hougang and PTPS under opposition for so long. So touching see residents at void deck. PAP one enjoying air con room.
It's good Mr Yaw continue his mentor's style.
I wonder in ajunied GRC they will continue to meet in void deck mah?
Actually I've never agreed onto MPs using void deck or party's office for MTP session. Day to day running ought not be politicised

an article in the LHZB says it well, "集选区制度或许有其好处,眼下凸显出æ¥æ˜¯å…¶å¼Šç«¯ã€‚由于集选区制度,æ¡ä»¶éžå¸¸å¼±çš„个别候选人,å¯ä»¥æ顺风车进入国会,有治国大æ‰的人选则å¯èƒ½å—拖累而被拒门外." (the GRC system has its good points, but this case manifests its flaw. Because of GRC, some very poor candidates took a coach ride and entered the parliament, some with the talent and capability in managing the country and left outside.) and Lim Hwee Hua put it this way, "the people of Aljunied were voting on national issues, not for or against George or anbody."
What is less is a mess for the ruling party, reflect and improve, or the worse is yet to come. It is for the opposition who has entered the parliament to deliver what they said they would.
As for the people of singapore, lets be united and move on.

Well, one sided story huh?
Didn't WP also fielded new comer into GRC?
Seriously face it, today's gen you're not going to be able to find true blue political fighting cocks from either camp today.
Fighting cocks where they're able to solve problems and help the people. Both comes together.
