PM: Sg's overriding priority improving lives of its citizens

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the newly-elected PAP government has its work cut out for it after winning the people's mandate for five more years.
Speaking at the 30th anniversary conference of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).
Mr Lee said given the external environment, Singapore's overriding priority is to improve the lives of its citizens.
To achieve this, it will firstly grow the economy by staying plugged into the world.
Next, it will attract investments and talents into Singapore and also encourage Singapore enterprises to diversify, expand and move abroad.
Secondly, the government will also transform and upgrade the economy because it cannot grow simply by increasing the workforce indefinitely.
In this regard, it is also the Government's objective to raise income across the board and this includes the middle income households and those at the lower end.
To achieve this, the workforce must upgrade its productivity which will be a challenging task for the next 10 years.

Last I remembered, they punish the voters of opposition wards and use the money from opposition wards to improve the lives of voters in PAP wards.

I think our pm should terminate those grassroots members who only know how to carry balls and not doing the work.
We need members who really talk and be level with th people and to know what they really want.
Collated all the information and then presented to pm or elected mps, sit down an hold a monthly meeting to come up with a good solutions for the people.
If not, the next ge, your vote will drop further to 55%.

Our PM is in his final term, he cares less what you all think anymore, at the end of five years, he can jolly well join his sister in London enjoying Premier league football.

if he is so lazy to find out what is happening to his fellow citizens on the ground level, he should retire early, he should be the first one to terminate by himself or by his fellow citizens and go somewhere else to enjoy his pots of gold.

Productivity.....hmm....doesn't raising it clash with their policy of bringing in cheap foreigners?
Raise incomes of middle and lower households.......then get rid of cheap labour first? Haha u know the cheap IT engineer from china or phillipines......examples like that. If the cheap labour is still there, who's gonna hire the PMETs and fresh grads? Then lydat, how to raise incomes?

his way of only improving the life is by growing economy. ie higher GDP, which lead to high ministerial salaries. so afterall, whose interest is he serving?
yes we need to grow the economy, but we need to grow at a pace that most singaporeans feel comfortable about.
to tackle birthrate, first solve the housing problems.
To raise productivity, please reduce foreigners, otherwise, company will not feel the heat to act.
