GRC 'myth'
GRC has already been implemented for 13 years yet it remained a contentious issue because it was viewed by many as unfair and only benefited the ruling party.
However I think Single Member Constituencies (SMC) system can also guarantee minority representation in parliament by some modification on its implementation
This is how it works :
The Elections Department would specify the required number of minority representatives in the all SMC constituencies according to the percentage of the minority community in the total population.
The Election Department will designate which are the constituencies as minority represented only constituencies.
Political parties could only nominate a minority candidate to contest in these designated constituencies. So only minority representatives will guaranteed be elected into parliament.
These minority represented SMC should be rotated among all the constituencies in every General Election.
The advantage of the said rotation is that a MP will not be staying in a constituency for too long. The electorate will find it beneficial and be more then happy to accept the scheme because PM or other heavy weight ministers will one day come to serve them in their constituency
Likewise this system could also be applied to ensure the desired gender representation.
Correct a typo mistake : GRC was implemented 23 years since 1988
GRC is a brainchild of PAP, it can also be a deadchild for them.
By Creating GRC, they put a top man there with the smaller ones leaning and grouping with him for security and career advancement. But if that top man failed, it can become a diseaster for all.
If oppositions can take over just 2 GRCs, LKY would be regretting creating GRC, which could ultimately or partially destroy his party chances.
But then if GRC failed, it ok, they still got the PRC to hold on to...
I think opposition can win in Aljunied GRC, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, Holland-Bukit Timah GRC and Tampines GRC.
the base thing is income. where we get income? from jobs. the top real foreign talents helps brings in businesses. we get jobs. however we must balance that to keep jobs sgreans really cannot do (real low paid ones) to foreigner cheapo labor. the majority of low end service, construction should go to foreigners. all the middle groups like business studies, fiancing, accounting, engineering, technical jobs trained in ITE, U and polytechnics readies singaporeans for them! by allowing even foreign talents to take them all sgreans are never given a chance!. its like fighting an enmy with full armour and sowrd while you have non!
vote for a chance. don;t pity the PAP gahmen! look at their sad faces askin for your votes that's what people will do to secure their rice bowls! supoprt the opposition don;t think twice at the polling centres. your future and your children's future are in your hands!

I won't hesitate to vote for the opposition on May 7.
PAP arrogant has caused its own downfall. I have over the past years commenting on the wrong policies especially, high property prices caused by foreign buying, income gap btw rich and poor, downgrading of living standard of average Sinaporean, influx of forigners that caused hardship for ordinary Citizens and the brains all but no heart way of governing. it all come to one things, money!! if governing is all about money talk, there is no compassion and there is no heart to serve.
We can have all the casino, the high rise building but if the ppl felt that they are been taken over and relegated as 2nd class citizen in their own country, the government would eventually falls.
Remember all uprising is by peasants and though there is no bagger in Singapore, we already have the peasants class that continue feel been sold out with all the foreigns faces appearing even at supermaket and 7-11.
Not to mentioned, Singaporean are now been deprived of a decent home by the high price caused by these foreign buying.
Imagine 1 big GRC - Tanjong Pagar and it has 87 candidates...
GRC must be abolished.
It is a disgusting system.
If a person wants to hold political office in parliament then he should compete and win in elections on his own merit and not hide behind some PAP elite and reap the rewards, like that new guy in Tanjong Pagar GRC.
Never gave a single public speech to voters, no one voted him, no one knows him, but still became an MP.
He should be ashamed of himself.
He is a sickening disgrace to those who fought hard and put in effort to win in elections.
my side worse. people want to install CCTVs. then our SCC charges will increase. but opposition one walkawy during flyers distribution until early morening saw some foreign workers unrrinating. even at night drinking by the roads no plice patrol one meh. just a matter of time when crime starts easp when they get drunk and they number sincrease foreign labors and our own citizens will suffer. my hippos suggested citizen volunterer patrols which i striongly agree. down to earth minister of my town, a voice in the parliament for the people, one stone kill 2 birds. so what do you think?
Each MP should be voted in on his/her own, not on someone else. Just imagine the likes of Tan Pei Ling in parliament because of GRC.
I am glad that some goodman named Alternative SMC has elaborated in a post in details in yahoo fit-to-post my idea how SMC would be implemented to ensure minority repesentation in parliament that is easy to understand.
