oops sorry, i thought you saw my tongue in cheek.
as you can see my other posts, i always try to describe something to imply otherwise so as to avoid arguments with student supporters of pap as a friend told me. i have no time to argue with them but i guess i didn't get this one well. yes you're right, it looks like many could have misunderstood what i had intended. by the way, i never watch channelnewsasia nor read the local newspaper. the underlying propaganda for pap advantage is very strong and makes me sick - the beautiful images, the sound effects and the implied messages. i must say they really do good marketing.PS; oops i hope no student supporters of pap see this one.

The ruling party has been enjoying the media advantage for decades. Todate the law minister is still defending their unfair media control by the State! What's the point of calling for fairer reporting when the gate keepers in the newsroom is still largely pro-pap loyalists?
Can he abolish the de facto propanganda ministry (information mininstry) ? He can't.
'Cause this is part of a very centralised system of control, isnt it??

the change has to come from parliament. to force pariliament to adopt freerer media, it has to start from election. The election is up to you. -
right. one can imagine what is up their sleeves. no news.. then dissolve parliament, a swift nomination and announcement of election day.. a whirlwind 9 day campaigning..
then the cool off day while the images on TV continue to play on our minds, stir emotions and swing neutral votes..then bang..it's all over, 5 more years of wait
unlike previous elections, we face a formidable obstacle this time-psychological manipulation-our soft side
parliaments and congress of other countries requires internal voting for critical policies to pass, though this is not immediately possible here,
at least, let's vote for a greater voice representing us in parliament and not live to regret whatever tax that may be passed at will after the elections

dont wonder, we all can decide who rule singapore.singapore not libya, egypt, bahrain, yemen yet. we might be in the future if there is no alternative voice in the parliament for singaporeans. we are not stupid enough to expect the dogs to bark and bite its master. the change has to come from outside the circle of powers.

as i say, dont expect their dogs to bark and bite its own masters. the change of power and policy has to come from outside the ruling regime circle of power. -
The hope is on the younger generation.
One of the most populous middle-east countries, Egypt, has a population of 80 millions and most of the people are below 24 years old.
The old way of using stick to beat and gun to drive the people on the street, jailing dissidents, one political party upmanship and autocratic/tyrant rule - no matter how benevolence are things of the past.

aiyo, u compare singapore to PRC? you might as well compare to libya, egypt, yemen, bahrain, tunisia.read thai newspaper, malaysian papers, everyday also update on opposition opinion not just on election year( 1/2 year nia).

Let be fair lah. ST report more for the government than for the ppl. The amplified the stories for PAP but I dont think they distorb it. They intelligently 'control' those that can be reported and those least reported. But they still report it.At least PAP dont block the internet for facebook, twitter or youtude.

I thought YouTube is a good media to propagate corrections. Watch Francis Seow who talk about the late Mrs Lee or Mdm Kwa. People here should see this too !!

Just look at the number of nice adjectives they are churning out to describe the candidates of their political master. Their endless 'glamorous' photoshots splashed across the papers as if their party papers.
Their intention to control the media is just so obvious, that of promoting the ruling party interest with such blatant bias, vastly different from what the new law minster has advocated.

yes it is so true. they mainstream media can brainwash the mother, they cannot brainwash me. i know what i want. freedom! mainstream freedom, speech freedom. if we have freedom, we have more vibrant society with youngster dare to voice up. no longer depending on the PAP shit excuse saying hard to get quality ppl joinging politics and giving them milti million salary. it is vicious cycle they fail to recognise that cause by them. -
