Decriminalise suicide!

In this island, suicide is illegal.
This is pointless. Incarcerating a guy who doesn't want to live will only make it worse and make that person more determined once he/she got out.
Singapore should decriminalise this. It is against human liberty.
Plus, the cops can focus on more critical matters, such as national security.

I think suicide is a illegal act.Of course the offenders must be punished.

They'll be sent to the prison and receive counselling from there.
They will be able to live life again, and step out to the society. -
Sometimes suicide is caused by Satans. But take note not all cases are due to Satanic causes.

on moral grounds, it cannot be allowed....
in ancient times, people did it out of the loss of their country...and we call them heroes..
in modern days, they did it out of despair for themselves...we call them pathetic

I think at least some form of euthanasia for the terminally sick should be considered, with patients' own wishes.

It takes alot of balls to throw yourself off a building, its courage beyond our outstanding, circumstances which can lead them to do it.
If they survive, these people need help, they need counselling, and not send them to jail. Suicide should not be made an offence.

Its awful, but do they have any other choice? Do you have the balls to throw yourself down a building? I certainly dont have the courage to.
These people need help, not a jail sentence and receving counselling from there.

you only need 3 seconds of balls to jump...
the uncles would need to tahan your ugly sight for 30 minutes to clean up your blood spilled and your brain that was smashed, unless there is not much there?
your parents and your loved ones would take another 3 years to mourn over you, unless, to them there is no loss?
when you die, all problems are over for you, if it also mean no problem for the society anymore, your family can look after them so they won't miss you, government will not lose a single cent of tax....then you should ask, why you should even live at all???
when you are in your new world, hell or heaven, the singapore law doesn't apply... why bother whether it is legal or not?
make sure that when you jump, you don't survive....

I agree, prison is the wrong place for guy with suicidal though.This poor guy would already have lost all hopes of living and in the worse mental health to commit the act.
The place for ppl with suicidal though is either a half way house or counselling organisation. Sg govern should encourage church or religion organisation to create a special place in the counselling house to treat this mental problem of suicide. It is not appropripate to create futhur stress to this poor guy with law enforecement. It is heartless. With more gamblers from casinos and increase pressure of livihood, it is time to take this issue seriously.

Err....I disagree with it......it should stay as it is......to send a signal.....
As for your concerns about the effects of the legal punishment on the mental health of the person concerned.............well then the punishment can be made to be something like a mandatory rehab / mental treatment with a psychiatrist or a kind of probation......no need to go to jail........
But I believe it is good to maintain a legal prohibiton of suicide, as a moral stance.

the rise of suicide pacts due to monetary and economic reasons has been aplenty...and normally the key cause.....
it brings down a person along with the loss of the possession of love with some cases burning their own children in the fiery spirals of despair....

With the ever increasing cost of living, I am not sure whether the sucide rate will increase over time?
