30 years of one-party rule can be shaken to the core in matter of days.
Look at Egypt. a regional power, whose military built-up and iron grip on key govt institutions clearly belies the weakness of such a political system.
The army has acknowledged the people rights to peaceful assembly and vows to protect the country and the great Egyptian people.
Such a closed entrenched regime is not so robust afterall.
Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail."
— Laozi
The ancient philosopher long ago already told the essence of democracy.
Lao Zi did not mean anything but everything.
PAP is using this to their advantage, they have imported young workforce who will whoreship them, while locals have more old than weak, who ever master this, will win.
In Lao Zi's world, there's no evil or good, all is one.
We, the locals have not learnt well, and are still squabbling over various matters, some don't care, some are businessmen, they are happy, who cares?
Sinkapore is made of shallow empirical experiences and money is the drug.
PAP is a very hybrid regime. I wish we are politically more free like in Taiwan.

"Learn from the people.Plan with the people

The people will remark, we have done it ourselves."

But Singaporean luv their HBD flat too much so they scared of losing their job due to unfair sentencing of protestors tat will give them criminal record.

Egypt is one of the hotbeds of Islamic militancy despite their crackdown on the Mulsim Brotherhood. At the end of the day, dictators have their own Achilles heels. Hosni Mubarak, despite his iron-like grip on power, cannot prevent the growth of terrorist outfits on his own soil. Rather, they flourished on their own hatred for his regime.

Wu Shu Zhen should be tipped out of her wheelchair over a cliff. That alone is enough to send her to Level 18 of hell for eternity.
The famous Giza Pyramids-Egypt
The unshakable dictator has been ousted after holding the country hostage the last 18 days whilst trying to cling to power despite having stayed in power the last 30 years.
The 82- years 'old tree' has collasped under its own weight. The Arab world is embracing democracy faster than some Asian states.
" On February 26, 2005, Mubarak ordered the constitution changed to allow multi-candidate presidential elections before September 2005 by asking parliament to amend Article 76 of the Egyptian constitution. This change in the constitution is seen by some analysts as a ploy to seamlessly allow Gamal Mubarak to inherit the top position in Egypt.
According to this view, Gamal Mubarak would be one of the candidates in a presidential elections and would be supported by the ruling party and the government-controlled media. Since remaining serious candidates would be disqualified by the NDP-controlled People's Assembly leaving only the less popular candidates, the inheritance of power would be accomplished through a "democratic" process." -wikipedia
"The 2011 Egyptian Protest
On 25 January 2011, widespread protests began against Mubarak's regime. These took the form of an intensive campaign of civil resistance supported by very large numbers of people and mainly consisting of continuous mass demonstrations. By 29 January it was becoming clear that Mubarak's regime had lost control when a curfew order was ignored, and the army took a semi-neutral stance on enforcing the curfew decree. Some protesters, a very small minority in Cairo, expressed nationalistic views against what they deemed was foreign interference, highlighted by the then held view that the U.S. administration had failed to take sides, as well as linking the regime with Israel.
On 11 February 2011, Mubarak resigned and fled Cairo. Vice President Omar Suleiman announced that Mubarak had stepped down and that the Egyptian military would assume control of the nation's affairs in the short term. Jubilant celebrations broke out in Tahrir Square at the news. ." Source -wikipedia

"The reforms and policies have strengthened macroeconomic annual growth results which averaged 5% annually but the government largely failed to equitably share the wealth and the benefits of growth have failed to trickle down to improve economic conditions for the broader population, especially with the growing problem of unemployment and underemployment among youth under the age of 30 years.
Many Egyptians criticize their Government for higher prices of basic goods while their standards of living or purchasing power remains relatively stagnant. " --Wikipedia
Outraged UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has denounced the use of military jets on the Libyan people.

No lah, many are just being pragmatic.
Many just very patiently and quietly waiting for this 90-year old tree to topple under its own weight, hoping for political reform to follow.
anyway sporeans deserve the government they voted for...what change just pray for a rising wage enough to live in an ever rising cost island for most workers here
