SINGAPOREANS and businesses are invited to tell the Government what they hope to see in the next Budget.
There are also more channels through which they can offer their views on issues relating to public spending.
Both general feedback and suggestions on specific aspects of public expenditure are welcome, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said yesterday. MOF, together with Reach, launched the feedback exercise yesterday.
The Budget 2011 website - www.singaporebudget.gov.sg - features a feedback section.
Other channels open this year include Facebook, Twitter and discussion boards on Reach's Budget microsite.
More traditional channels include e-mail, reach@reach. gov.sg, and toll-free hotline 1800-3535555. Suggestions and views are also accepted by post.
At the People's Action Party's biennial conference last Sunday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had hinted at the possibility of goodies in the Budget, as in previous years of high growth.
'When the Budget comes, with some luck, we should have some good news,' he had said.
As part of the outreach activities, there will be an online Budget quiz, plus a Budget Challenge with a parliamentary-style debate to increase awareness of the Budget process and public finance.
The quiz will be divided into two sections, each comprising questions on Singapore's fiscal, economic, tax and social policies.
No limit is placed on the number of attempts made and prizes will be awarded to the top scorers in each round of the quiz.
The Budget Challenge gives junior college students and those in the last two years of their integrated programmes the chance to experience what it is like to be a Member of Parliament, with them being able to engage in 'cut-and-thrust' parliamentary-style debate.
Each team will represent a ministry and propose policy initiatives to be debated in a parliamentary setting. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
Seriously, I think we are in deep shit

Why?
There is no need for this wish list. It is a waste of time. Common sense should prevail. Just cut certain percentage of our defence budget and channel it to social, education and medical services for the forthcoming budget. We don't need to buy expensive defence related weapons or systems as we are in the sea of calm. Currently, our defence systems and weapons are much superior to our potential enemies so it does not make sense to continue in allocation of high defence budget year after year.
Reduce all Ministerial salaries to a max of $1 million p.a., if they are corrupt, send them to the gallows or have them disembowelled.
Send it them so that they can laugh at your wish list ?
Sheesh......
Real cheapskate, with those multi-million dollar salaries you'd think that they could have gotten better entertainment.

The Government is out of ideas to keep the people happy, so kindly HELP THE GOVERNMENT on how to HELP YOURSELF!
it just reminds me of that guy who pleaded asking them not to help...

Wish List :
1. Everyone gets $2000 cash in the coming Feb/Mar 2011 Election Budget
2. Everyone who is willing and able to work will get a job that can covers the cost
of living
3. Everyone who wants to buy a HDB flat will get a housing subsidy of $100,000
4. Everyone will pay a lower GST of 5% (it is possible if the govt stops the
financing of workfare scheme and introduces minimum wage)
5. Everyone will get a Medi-save top of $30,000.
You all better don't send your wish list to them.
Wait they mass forward it all across to each other so that they can have a good laugh at you.

Glad if they really send the list to each other or best to the public as the wish list has many hidden implications about the shortcomings of government policies.
Reduce the ns to 1 yr.
2 yr of ns, and govt need to fork out money to feed the soldiers.
If reduce to 1 yr, mindef expenses/costs will be reduce by half.
I think my wishlist is that they will reduce gst.
we don't need to raise gst to help the poor.
all we need to do is to cut the salaries of our ministers and use it to help the poor

your plan is simplistic and unworkable...
everyone knows the NSFs are cheap labour... you want the bloody Regulars to do the sai kang the NSFs are doing?
besides, a shitload of money is spent keeping the high ranking regular occifers at their canteen breaks
