Come on guys.
They already said HDB flats are affordable.
You have to trust them.

But are you even eligible to apply for 1 room flat ?

no I am not.
its ok that we do not have money to buy a 1 room flat. we purposely commit a crime, get a free 1 room flat in prison to stay and get free meals and free medicial benefits in it
A brand new 1 room flat cost average S$85K. Salary must be below S$2K if I'm not wrong....but to buy it still need to get married !!! Since need to get married eitherway, might as well get a bigger flat....possibly 3 rm HBD ? S$150K avg. Still affordable. Use all your CPF and finish payment 1 shot. It's possible. If looking at having children in the future, get at least 4 bdrm HDB or 5 rm. However, those are not really affordable....
Let me see, I am forking out 247k for a standard 4 room on 8th floor in 2010, all options in, somewhere in sengkang.

Don't be crazy, if I had that kind of money, the first thing I would buy is an Audi R8, not a damn flat in sengkang.

Yah lor! Hahaha!
Me and my gf could pay down our BTO 5-rm HDB straight, but there's no point to. It makes more sense to take advantage of the low 2.6% interest for 30 years. It's all about how one manages one's finances, and how early one starts to do it.
In fact, there are a few ways to play around the 2.6% and profit from this low interest rate.
Then again, how many people are willing to do the necessary homework (which is hard work), think deep, analyse carefully, to understand how to play the system?

Seriously, I wouldn't do that at all. Comparing $$ being taken by HDB or COE, I rather HDB.
Guess that's the difference.

Wow so cool! Can pay one shot 5rm HDB....but all the CPF gone!

yup. That would almost be our whole assets atm lor... but BTO still need 2+ years more to build, so by then will be ok.
I think I will pm ditzy my strategy since he's already buying it. Don't feel like sharing in public.

If get marry and don't intent to have children can consider 1 room flat.
At least if divorce since its just a 1 room flat your wife do not get much out of it..

well under the women charter laws of singapore, wife can appeal and most will get half the cost of the flat at the time of divorce even tho wife did not pay a single cent for it.
Anyway, no local gals will get a husband buying one room flat, only those thais, PRC and viet maybe.

Ya so the smaller your flat is the cheaper it is and the less money your wife will get out of it if get divorce.
Also, you can argue in court that as you stay in a 1 room flat you don't have much money and can cut down on the maintenance fees that you have to pay her every month

the court will look into the wrong doer, and mostly it is the husband that have affair outside who get caught with pant down, so you no need to argue so much, most divorce lawyers are most willing to take up the wifey case, so easy to earn 10% fees out of the claim. sure win one lah

not necessary is the husband fault.
if the wife is angel7030 who works part time as a prostitute and mamasan, than the court will say its the wife fault and you get nothing out of the divorce
I dun get marry one lah, single forever...yeah!!

good idea. you won't spread your HIV virus in that way and harm other people
Will the property prices reach 1980's level again ?? No chance! It'll go up up up until most people will have to rent than own properties. By then the Authorities will probably say its still affordable to "rent".....become like HK or London or NY....but our average salaries dun match up....

Ya, affordable for everyone, BUT, choices will not favour the couples. HDB flat got cheap that built at the remote or not popular site.

it is possible for property prices to drop to the 1980's taht is if we vote the PAP out

Seriously, do you take everything I say so seriously?
By the way, I already bought the farking flat. And I already done my sums, and I want to clear the debt in under 25 years or less.
Also, I already plan to sell it just after 5 years, and buy a condo.
Why the hell would I want to buy a car that costs double my flat?
By the way, thanks for your PM, but I couldn't understand a bit of what you wrote, coz it sounds more like what financial planner would tell me, all in one ear and out the other.

No choice, buy first, live minimum 5 years, wait for price to go up, sell, move out.
