Ouch.
another proof that SG plan to have 7 million is here.
Today, water demand is about 380 million gallons a day (mgd) or 1,730,000 cubic metres a day (m3/day).
This is expected to double in the next 50 years, with about 70% of the demand coming from the non-domestic sector, and domestic consumption making up the other 30%.
http://www.pub.gov.sg/LongTermWaterPlans/gwtf.html
water consumption will be double in 50 years and 30 % from domestic cinsumption.
current water consumption is 1.73 m3 a day x 2= 3.46 m3 a day in 50 years
( trust me,Gavamnan dunt mean 50 years later!),
from the same page, the target per capita water domestic consumption is 147 liter,
3.46 m3 x 0.30=1,038,000 m3 / 147 liter=7.06 million population.
Other than building more houses and increasing water infrastructure, they should also look into catering to the needs (physical and mental) of the extra population. They need more parks and open spaces, more shopping and recreation centres, more schools (primary, secondary and tertiary), more transport infrastructure (widened roads, more MRT lines, competing bus companies offering alternative routes, more carparks, etc.), more telecommunications and IT infrastructure (3G data services and Wireless@SG is a joke nowadays due to increased subscribers). While juggling all that, they should also make sure runoff during flash storms are drained properly into bigger and more efficient drains, canals, etc.).
Don't just build flats and increase water supply and call it a day.
building downwards could pose flood problems...maybe the future of HDBs will be like 50 storeys per building...
or they will turn singapore into a midgar...they'd have the elite level upstairs and the hdb slums below....
LHL and his successors will have nuclear plants instead of mako plants....
Lets have 7 billion.
LOL..

skali one day they'll make local cokes out of recycled water from all these excess water...
Ok guys, since our target is 7 million population, then we will have to invade some countries to acquire our "Living space".(sounds familiar)
sorry when it's 7m, i dun think there's any invasion still. If you wan, you go invade pulau ubin lol.
Pulau Ubin already is Singapore land,ur brain crack?
Diaoyu Island lah.... Haha..
Bukit timah will be flatten one day.
I am not sure if you guys understood that the increase in Singapore population is inevitable irregardless of political party.
at least i think it is in motion and nothing can be stop.....we are moving towards a United South East Asia States - USEAS.
*Sips pinot noir from local vineyard*
Hmm? 1.4 million flats?
Yup,
and HDB flats will float in the sky, filled with residents

This would happen only if:
the Lees' are the ones in power.
or
there are no more third world nation in south east asia.
else why would PAP want to over-expose their much proud of creation to less civilised countries?
Need to acquire more lands...to accommodate more pple in Spore.
Cannot simply just built high rise hdb flats.
Govt must have a future plan in hand.
See ourselves, the new hdb flats, very very close to one another.
That show how cramp it is.

ya, flats are too close, there are lots of case of ladies losing their bras and undies, and also binocular sales are up too, there are many things to focus if you live in HDB, lucky i dun live in HDB.
Our govt idealogy is simple, if cannot expand sideways, expand up, next time, if you meet a friend living in HDB on the street, may tell you he/she is living on the 312 floors
