I think its near 60% foreigners and 40% locals, the other way round....
currently 3.2M citizens (include 0.3M new citizens 2001-2010)
0.6M PR
and 1.3M non-residents (ie work permit and employment pass and their families)
so 56% locals 44% foreigners

English speaking, you mean english man and chinese wife. In england their country will look after their 10 children, in Singapore, will you look after them?
As usual, everywhere I go, I bound to see prc...students. And consturction workers.
The policies in SG are to make us work and take care of ourselves..... I like SG policies but have to work until we die.....Hahaha!
Yes agreed.
We need to work very hard to ean a decen living in spore. If you willing to work hard, you and your family will also have 3 meals on the table everyday too.

Ya, it depends on what job you are holding, specialised job, back office, front, customer services?
Even my dept already crowded with foreign talent (PRs).

I think at every level also have foreigners.....the Top management have AngMo the mid have PRCs/Thai and the low end have Bangla...all competing for our jobs....
They (foreign talent) can push us archieve great goals.
They need us and we need them.
If not, the company will not go far.

We'll be forced to perform better to save our jobs....maybe that's good...but if we lost our jobs, will be a major problem....the job market will be very tough with so much competition from foreigners that are usually "cheaper" to hire....especially the mid/low level jobs....
You are 200% right about 'cheaper' to hire.
Most of the manager go for cheaper worker and dont care a damn whether you as a local about your survival or not.
Your rice bowl got smash up is non of the departmental manager problem. what the departmental manager want is to go for cheaper worker.
Better still, with degree, with experience can employ less than $1.5 per month, can multi task, the more the better.
Alias, most of the departmental manager are like that.
Did they do a favour in helping spore as a whole? No. NO NO NO and NO.

Its always the mid level that got squeezed the most...My company also hired alot of PRCs like you'd said cheaper and got degree + working exp...S$1500 only !!! Our mid level countrymen and graduates with working exp.... how to fight this price??? It can only get worst....
More foreigners means more trouble to the labour market....I dun think the stats are accurate, only those affected will know....the luckier ones will not....

you are 300% right about the angmo taking the singaporean jobs at the top management.
I have no problem with the kopi ah soh, the waitresses or the construction workers from China or the philippines, they are here to serve us. Singaporean should not be competing for the low end of the market, especially the younger generation who had better education than the older singaporeans.
our company got only 1 PR and employ all singaporeans. recruitment priority is singaporeans nos 1 and we are foreign company. whether the company decide to go foreign or not depend on company policy. most decide to abuse it. some will meet the quota to employ foreigner to lower cost.
singapore must reduce this foreigners at mid level job level. make it tougher to employ foreigners. if this company come to singapore just to save cost, maybe malaysia, thailand can be a better option., not singapore. this company just want to enjoy singapore convenience for their expats, security we provided, convenience of travel, and abuse the employment practices that is something we should not encourage.

Like I'd said, only those affected will know this problem, other luckier ones will not... I still dun understand why they pay 3x for the AngMo compared to local top talents...are they really that good ?
