Hahaaha funny thread. Hey Singapore welcome to the first world. There is nothing going on here that isn’t going on in any other developed nation.
The truth is that Singapore’s economy is much more advanced than the population can sustain. No Foreigners = No First world, modern, economically stable Singapore.

Sinkapore dismal breading is due to severe erectile dysfunction by the local males and masculine characteristics of local females. It is a " you die, your own business world" out here so local guys can't errect while girls become guys to survive. Of course local girls can always find Western men as they usually are "BIGGER" and should have no problem at the call of duty.
The local guys can only suck thumb and become " The Last of the Mohicans".
The governement here suppress dissenting voices, locking up oppositions people and they control all the media in this Sinkapore Inc. There no room for alternative opinions. Locals look at this kind of environment and wonder if this is the kind of country they want to bring up their children in, as Slaves for the government? First World ?
Our wages are super low, hardly the kind that you can ever imagine. We are still competing with India and China for the kind of things we produce. What innovation do we have to command top dollars for anything we do? Our stupid government even tells us to be ," Cheaper, Better and Faster." They even openly declare that they are deaf to all criticisms. First World?
Our brainless governement only know how to suck up to MNCs and provide them with cheap labour, in schools, you can see foreigners getting all the scholarships while the locals have to cough up hundreds of thousands of dollars to send their children abroad. Why is that so? Foreigners still have only a vague idea of how the government here works, and they are grateful to the government, so the government is actually breading their own loyal supporters at the expense of the locals. The locals are doomed to extinction. First World?

The incentives given out by the government is so low that it is not worth any one to consider those things when giving birth, the governement only knows how to suck up to big bosses. The labour law in Sinkpore is so dismal that people get worried if they go on maternity leave. Companies only get a slap on the wrist if they flout any labour law so locals can only suck it all up, don't forget, dissenting voices will be ignored and if you disgust the government so much, you will suffer at the creative hands of the government. The judicial system here only work for their paymaster , the government and will rule always in their favour. First World?
The government have even robbed the people of their means of retirement through the delay of withdrawn of CPF, a retirement fund or if someones wants to buy flats, their retirement fund will be wiped out. With low wages, influx of cheap labour, non-existence means to survive in old age, we don't even have adequete medical benefits, if there's any serious illness, I think throwing yourself down to MRT tracks will be more worth it than dragging your family into debts. Hospitals will sent people to chase after you if you cannnot pay your bills. First World?
The term, "First World" is only a term for failed Western Countries
The West thought they could change China just as they have defeated Soviet Union with money but China is a different sparring partner. You look around and see, how the West can only grovel at the feet of China and meekly toe the line. They virtually bankrupted themselves letting go lots of manufacturing jobs and only consuming goods from China. Britain now can only share aircraft carriers with France and even their Queen have to spend wisely while China is buying aircraft carrirers. I think the Queen is poorer than even some of the people in China.
The problems facing Sinkapore is very grave and has some resemblance to the West but it differs on some major points, so I would advise you to read in depth into the woes facing my fellow countrymen, you got to stay off mainstream media and look harder as I've stated earlier, the media is controlled by the government.

I believe that everything has a limitation, a threshold point before the bubble burst, today, the economy is brewing well, and that almost everyone is employed, be it top or low jobs, with paid, most will spend and therefore consumer index will be good, and that help to further strengthen the economy. However, as said, once a the threshold is met, everything will tumbles down, the rich leaves, the poor go jobless, the business become poor. In most of our recession, we had managed to get of it on our own, meaning Singaporeans tightened their belts, bite the bullet, take the cut and get over the tide of recession, we had seen the last one in 2009 where we had a difficult times and the lost was tremedous, the most worst of the decade recession. But not to worry, we will be getting a far more worst one coming soon, cos recession aren't going to be like those years where singaporeans are willing to give and take, the next recession will affect the FT, FW or so call 40% of Foreign workforce, how they react will be totally different from singaporeans. I bet most will go home and leave an empty shell here for singaporeans to pick up.

You are obviously a bright person who has put a lot of real thought into this subject. But after reading your post I still don’t see anything happening in Singapore that doesn’t happen anyplace else in the world.
Look at the Muslim uprisings in France. Look at the monumental illegal immigrant problem in the US. Look at the overwhelming number of Pakistanis in the UK. And all of these groups are trying with success to change the culture of whatever country they are in. You have no idea how angry I get when I see a Mexican or Honduran flag being flown in the US.
There is no nation on the planet whose government truly represents the people. It’s a wicked cycle of self preservation. Members of Parliament, Congress, Senate or whatever the group is called are loyal only to the people who put them in power and that is almost always businesses, unions or some other group. There is no reason to represent the common citizen.
Your comment about allowing all of the immigrants for votes is also fare but the exact same thing is going on in the US. As I speak there are plans in the works for a blanket amnesty for ALL illegals in the US. And yes this is 100% about votes.

I guess I'm mistaken about your good intentions, but thanks for sharing about what's happening in other parts of the world.
I'm also a bit curious and bewildered when I first heard about the amnesty for illegals immigrants, so it's another rich men call for more profits. Democracy has been betrayed by Capitalism. Democracy nutured and protected Capitalism from Communism but Capitalism has grown too big for any country to handle.
The only people who are going to be safe in the future will be rich people. We will be exploited even more by them and I think Communism or some other form close to those ideology will rear its' head again. The world seems to be moving forward to another kind of revolution to overthrow the rich and the powerful, to upset the balance of power once more, this will happen when the boiling point has been reached, but I don't think I'll be around. It is currently not obvious yet.
One of the most glaring problem is that everyone talks about democracy like it's free and everyone can use it, well, it's not. Sometimes sacrifice have to be made.
I applaud Google co-founder Sergey Brin to show his disapproval of China censorship of the internet, but I'm not sure how long can Google withstand those kind of pressure. Will Google eject their co-founder when their earnings start to drop big time? Already the Baidu chairman is gloating about how his company has profitted from Google China exit. A very rich China guy openly throttling Democracy, tramping on the civil rights of his own country men for the sake of profits. I see more dark times ahead for people anywhere around the world and when more rich businesses starts to run China and when that China extend its diplomatic pressure around the world, woe be unto all nations.
These are big times for big leaders, leaders who will have to walk an even tighter road than what History has been written so far to balance the integrity of a Nation, the survival of a Nation without losing her soul to the money men.
We, as citizens, despite all odds, still have to remind those people to remember their duty to safeguard the nation at all times, and with a sense of self-sacrifice to the nation.

Communism is actually a very good and better system than democracy, the hindsight is that the creator fail to understand that human with all their greed and carving, cannot take up such system. It shows that the fall of communism is human faults. The creator had created communism merely out of a idealogy/theory, in practice, it failed.

FYI: no matter how terribly dsiappointing democracy has been, it has never been worse than communism. look at history. this fact alone has proved itself in countless times. it is in human nature that fair distribution can ever be achieved, for it is in the fact that some get paid higher than others that society manages to function successfully. greed will always stand in the way of communism, so while many suffer cos of democracy, many others enjoy the benefits of it while in communism, EVERYONE SUFFERS while the hypocrites at the top laugh and enjoy life.

I just think all systems will fail in the end but, humans will not stop trying to realign the balance of powers when either side becomes overwhelming. The realigning of powers is happening and is still happening, through seen and unseen changes happening in our world, many different areas, ex. businesses, workforce changes, natural disasters, the different changing fortunes of countries, all these will accumulate to the formation of humans reaction to many different factors, some factors require immediate attentions, some factors are not even known at that particular time.
The human factor is the one that always sets the ball rolling and is also always the one that destroys it. Democracy has served us well, but if you look at how China has sucessfully sidestepped the West democratic overtures, I would just say that certain principals of democracy is just not working. China has read the West move very well.
We, at current time, cannot envisage, another form of system that will be used in the future, but Time has always been full of surprises. I'm not advocating that communism is a good system but those welding communism have adapted far better to the current situation than democracy, so these will be interesting times.

It seems to me that communism is good for backward countries as it forces everybody to become educated but once the population is educated then maybe it is time to move on. If the west hadn't aided the taliban during the Russian invasion then islam would have been wiped out and the population would be too educated to go back to what it is now.
