Again, exactly what I was saying about having a comfortable and contented work force... Well at least they acknowledge a problem. To be a great nation, we really need to be inspired people, for we are really a small country with a small population.

I once asked.....Vivan when he was hosting Singaporean in L.A. I asked him how does the ministry planned to penetrate into the social fabrics of Singaporean to cultivate R & D interest and not for the sake of profit motivation.......his answer were more grant lor!!!
Singaporean students question him why SG govt does not offered more scholarship to SGrean particularly for overseas education. He said want to save money at home, but the govt gave out scholarship to foreigners....?
So other than selective policies that benefit the state own enterprises, Singaporean really have to do our own cultivating.
Few weeks ago there was an article wrote about NUS professor came up with GM Salmon, but the professor was ignorant about approving process thru various food and drug regulatory of testing and evaluation that takes up to 10 yrs as he thought he could be millionaire early and was disappointed. The point is it is not because we do not know how.......but most Singaporean have a navie view of how the World Works.

he would be the man calling for his troops to survive and fight n get weapons that he doesnt stock up.....then he would be telling his soldiers to survive and upgrade their m16 to a minigun with 5 rotating barrels without thinkin his troops havent eaten for the last 3 days..........or have enough ammo to fight.

The word to use is "conservative". It is their policy to make each step right (and sometimes still wrong!!!), even if it comes at the expense of public criticism - but what can we do to them?
Yes, I would agree also that having "seized control" of the people - down to the physic level - there are abuses of power (like SM Goh's remark about not upgrading HDB for opposition constituents - which is funny cause' it has nothing to do with who's the government) & arrogance.
Hope the political culture and structure will change in the future for Singapore, for the better I hope!!!

It is a norm for voters to complain before election. On Election Day, they do the routine by casting votes for the same party.

I think LTK has said before for WP to form a government, it would take at least about 20 years from then (2006) and they are clearly know themselves (And oppositions) that they cannot form an alternative right now, and most likely not in 2011 / 2012 or 2015 / 2016 / 2017 elections but the next after the second. Probably by then LTK is not LTK (Or rather, he meant his successor to worry / concern about forming government issue.
