Just went for reservist. Got 1 friend only O level cert, started business 2 yrs ago, now turnover >600k annually. "Recession" didn't affect him at all.
He worked super hard for this, because he knows life as an employee will be one of low pays, like what many are complaining here. Instead of merely complaining, he took action.

He's meant to be a employer/boss.Some cannot, some can, some got capital, some no money to start up biz. Bottomline: you need capital to kick the ball rolling.

And yup, you need capital. My friend started his business with a capital of $1k.
And btw he has advertised before in Sgforums Marketplace 2 yrs ago with his first product.
Maybe I should mention too that this friend started out working at a salary of $1.2k a month, and is currently 2 years older than me.

that's encouraging for i also got only o levels and salary about the same amount also..but then i not as genius as him to create product...

For that matters, he did not create the product. Nor is it a totally new product never before in Singapore.
He simply sourced from overseas and started selling here.

Singapore's economy shrank by a jaw-dropping 19.8% quarter-on-quarter during Q3, according to data released by the Monetary Authority of Singapore yesterday.
While GDP was still 10.3% higher than the same quarter last year, the quarter-to-quarter contraction was the worst ever, and is a reminder of how volatile Singapore's economic output can be:

According to DBS Bank, this is a record sequential contraction and one that is worse than the supposedly “free-fall” in GDP experienced in the recent US financial crisis, the slump during the dot.com bust as well as the doldrums during the Asia financial crisis.
The drop was caused primarily by a sharp reduction in output from the pharmaceutical industry:
Indeed, noted DBS, growth wouldn’t have fallen by more dramatic fashion than this considering that we had a record expansion not too long ago in the first quarter. Sharp pullbacks in production from the volatile pharmaceutical segment have brought down overall industrial production in recent months. "And the exceptionally high comparison base in 1H10 further amplifies the drop. That is, it’s drug effects plus technical payback!"
Yet it's all just part of what makes Singapore's economy such a fun ride, and the island is far from sinking.
The government isn't concerned, they even just tightened monetary policy yesterday in a bid to cool the economy and reign-in inflation, which is expected to hit 2-3% next year. DBS also still expects Singapore to achieve full-year GDP growth of 15% and has explained that pharma contractions such as the one just experienced don't normally last more than a quarter.
Still, by the looks of the SBR chart above, this was still a shockingly volatile quarter, even for Singapore.
So scary at the rate the economy expands and contracts just like that.

That is what I want to do, but how to source from overseas product and get it ship here to sell? How to apply for licence and how to get a shop? And of course ned some capital...many many thing to consider if want to be own boss. -

The how-to depends on you to find out and do it.
All these things to consider and do, you have to find out and experiment for yourself. Botak Jones started with $10k capital too I think.

sponsor, my family is one of the sponsor to IMH as charity, as my Dad is alway busy with mistresses oversea, mostly i will attend their seminar or meeting when invited, actually the head of doctors there told me that there are more mad people out there than in IMH, just that peoples dun come forward or seek treatment, alots of singaporeans have mental illness, just that most never notice it.

his is just one of the success story. not eveyone who goes into business end up well. i bet there are plenty of bankruptcies for every one successful venture. -
