Corrupt database caused prolonged site downtime

Temasek Review went offline from Monday 2200 hours to Tuesday 2300 hours due to a corrupt database caused by a failed upgrading of wordpress, which powers our site.
We had originally scheduled an upgrading of our wordpress installation on Monday 2200 hours – expected to be completed within an hour, but unfortunately it did not.
The upgrading failed due to compatibility issues with our customized theme and certain plugins which were outdated. This caused a serious security breach, allowing any registered users full access to our administrative backend. Our tech had to shut the site down immediately.
* We later learnt that the failed update had corrupted the database. Since our servers were sync in real time, our mirror server suffered the same fate.
As it was already past midnight, we were unable to a get hold of the programmer who customized the theme used on our site to work with support staff from our service provider to rectify the problem.
Although our service provider had originally suggested restoring the site from the previous day’s backup, but we decided against it because hundreds of current posts would be lost. Instead, we decided to salvage the corrupt database and try to restore it as fully as possible (not an easy task to piece together a 3Gb database puzzle with missing pieces, which had to be salvaged from the daily backup).
Fortunately, the chunk of corrupted data were mostly subscriber’s information and partial archives for 2008 (which is still being worked on by our tech locally). Other than that, there were no further damages and our site was restored successfully for it to be operational.
Now that the main problem has been resolved, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our host RTG (Asia) Network and programmer Alan Goh for their professional assistance. Most importantly, our readers for their patience and understanding.

Now TR is up and running again, let's hope those who claim that they have expressed their concerns directly to the TR administrators can continue to do so, should they find future articles to be "sensationalising unappropriately".
Don't give up on TR or other alternative views sites.

That is because you have become politicised and more critical in your view of information in state media. Your awareness of propaganda tricks also increased.
After I became politicised, I also completely lost my ability to read PAP state media.

It became an insult to my intelligence to go and read PAP state media.
One can only read stuff that is equal or above your level of intelligence.
