SINGAPORE: About 1.1 million Singaporeans aged 50 and above will benefit from a one-off, top-up to their Medisave Accounts.
This measure was announced in Budget 2010, and is aimed at helping older Singaporeans with their healthcare expenses.
Eligible Singaporeans can expect to receive top-ups ranging from $200 to
$500, with the higher amounts going to those who are older and less
well-off.
The top-ups will be credited on September 30. - CNA/fa
for all i m disgruntled with the policies, at least this is a timely and one of the best piece of good news for the dignified elderly...though via cpf again and not much...
apart, there are still many dignified minorities which should not be overlooked....what about those inborn midgets as an example....they do need help from being looked down by our modern day elitist society....
LOL.... Pleasing the elderly before elections? Haha...
I am getting 6k, because I deferred my reservist for 3 years.
We can all look at our CPF statements and feel rich.
another Left pocket to right pocket strategy.....
..................or is it right pocket to left pocket.....anyway can't tell the difff......

Talk about money illusion.
Hell, this is not even money we are talking about, it's just figures on a piece of paper which we will never get to see in our lifetime.
They can give you $50,000 in your CPF, raise the minimum sum by another $100,000 and it will still be status quo.

Then they will increase the retirement age or maybe no retirement age suggested by LKY.
Shh, stop telling people all these secrets.
Some still don't know.

Time for them to know and wake up to the harsh reality.
my ex-unit MR last year. i defered 3 years, because of my oversea degree studies.
i at least get the $3000 for my CPF.
i went through my ex-unit MR parade. after the parade some craziest mocked at those who had yet to clear their reservist and say they no longer need to go N.S... blah blah... jeer at us who had defered and yet to complete the 10 years cycle.
Now the government giving $$$ for those who yet to complete. good for me.
I just recieved my yearly E-Mart top up. Bough some neccassities from the E-Mart when i go R.T
yes i still got to go R.T, i know a few new friends. i get to work out complusory. it's doing me some good. n R.T's giving me $$$ for going. so 1 free dinner for every RT go.
sometime u think of the bright side. u feel better.
my friend called me and grumbled to me why no give $$$ to those completed.

Actually the old man is referring to himself only, if you are him I bet you won't retire too.
But seriously, can the elderly use the money in their Medisave for their hospital bills?
Or are there still many restrictions eg, can use a certain percentage, must leave a minimum sum etc.
The top up is for the cost of inflating medical bills.
Furthermore, the blessed elderly can pass on the medisave amount in that account to their son and daughter when they passed away.
