Just wait till the elections are over. Now election is round the corner so it’s toned down.
We’re getting more FTs in white collar jobs. I have a few friends working here as FTs in managerial positions and their pay is 5 figures, though they are not getting CPF, that’s really not the point.
that's the problem. they will hire more of their own firedns and buddies come in. unless its a corporate decision on big issues nothing can be done on minor issues regarding work. and turst me these people are very bonded even they got own families, unlike singaporeas who are separated and keep killing one another in jobs. you see lots of recruiters now FTs. somehow mayb they got their PRS or citizenship but their accent never fades. i don;t feel safe with them looking at our personel particulars. they are also in HR i think SG is SG no more.
i think its down to the hiring manager.....that is why most of the bigger companies they outsource their HR.
When i was applying for my current job....the companies received job applicants from all over the world. Its no longer just from Singapore.
I was screen from oversea before job interview.
And I think that is what make todays job search difficult. Singaporean job seeker need to understand that they cannot assume experiences is enough. Your idea, your exposure, skills set need to be global references.
i thot our PM already voice his regret on not informing you and train you to face globlisation in the early years, Singaporean like you should not keep expecting spoon feeding from govt, do it yourself.

Dunt be surprise if public sector jobs also like dat.
For moe teaching positions, they advertise in the web. Endless applicants from all over the world.
They can pick and choose the best post graduates from the best uni from all over the world, esp India, for a mere secondary school teaching job.

So, with teachers from India and China, our students will learn more about China and India cultures instead of western culture ?

I said 'esp from India' because India is a huge country with English as their communication, medium of instructions and teaching.
India's Indians presence here is huge. I think not just in the public sector. Ask any private sector and you get a sense of the picture. Indian applicants are huge in sg.
But the reality on the ground is that anyone from anywhere can apply for jobs in sg. You get teachers from Britain teaching in our sec school, doctors from eastern europe etc etc.
About cultures from Indian and China, you should ask moe, not me.

I thought the angmoh teachers here teach only english, they also teach western culture?
who are teaching our children chinese culture, indian culture, malay culture and peranakan culture, or simply Singapore culture?

So aren't exposure, skill set tagged in experience? IDEA seems uncalled for. Unless your in to politics.

you mean doing it myself means i can be the gahmen? okay so i will want to stop the spoon feeding from gahmen so that i can be the gahmen myself rigte? i fi don;t expect spoon feeding, not need gahmen mah i we all doit ourselves. you can me we can do it ourselves, together rigte?

we are not concern about endless influx of foreigners. we are concern about the rate at which foreigners comes in, and they come in in in many opatterns - totally no skill also can. but never inport ant taiwan, japanese, amercian prostitutes that i so demandeeded.!
As usual, the comments are more interesting than the article itself.
this type of things should leve to grass root leaders go organize. it beetr an d more fuitful if broken down in smaller group activities or at individual level. but come think of it if no such events, no pepople hire photogs, i got no chance to shoot events earn money
like Arapahoe said, it's a dog eat dog world out there. u guys complain foriegn talent has infiltrated singapore. true. that has happened, and there is no doubt it will worsen. thing is, my friends, THIS is a problem anywhere else in the world, even in the 'free' heaven u call america. since i've raised america, let's talk abt it. today, in almost every major ivy league university, more than 50 percent is dominated by foriegners(complain abt our schools and scholars from vietnam?). Even in sillicon valley, huge names like microsoft, apple and dell have all declared that they are desperately looking for chinese(singaporeans, preferably cos we can speak english:) ) and indian physicists and researchers and even now, most of the R&D departments in sillicon valley are already dominated by indians and chinese. NASA employs tons of indian researchers, but hires so few of their own americans, and it is a well-known fact many big names put foriegners as higher priorities. thing here is, LOOK at the world now. it isnt the PAP's fault per se, but perhaps u could blame it on globalisation. blame PAP? would u guys like to blame the Obma and the democrats? Cameron and the british admin? truth is, anywhere u go, be it usa or britain or france, there is always foriegn talent perpetuation, and no matter what u say, it is inevitable anywhere in the world, save for malaysia or indonesia with their maly-protectionist policies, but look at the state they r in.

Some have already left school and probably working for a few years already.
However, as they have not been subjected to retrenchment and being replaced by a cheaper, better, faster foreigner, they still think that armed with their degrees and savvy knowledge of the world, they are invincible.
And then when they turn 30, 35, 40 years old, they will go wtf just happened?

I think limss should change his sentences to:
CHEAPEST, BETTEREST AND FASTEST.
I think the cheaper, better and faster refer to the factory workers, line workers...they slow motion, pay according to hours, why rush, do slowly..
cheaper materials, better for the bosses pockets, faste output.
why so many foreigners traps come in the labor costs should decrase still somany type of industries and products line have to shift to foreign countries? becasue although gahmen successfully let foreigner sin to reduce costs, the land rental space cost still hight and is increasing! so bossess on the ground to balance up this they choose to continue and hire more foreign labors, to the extend of no adhering to the rules ratio set by gahmne. and lost of companies do that didthe gahmen bother to check on them, and i mean ALL of them? no that;s why never mind you increase land prices we increase more forginers and decrease more forigner pay so that forigner fight foreigner and no more sinkaporean in some of the jobs now.
Pple have hard time saving up for the raining days.
Is that what our govt want us to be in this position?
