Sudden Cessation of the IR free shuttle services

The CRA has ordered the various company serving the RWS shuttle buses which brings visitor from the heartlands to RWS to stop their services WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT in the afternoon of 10 September 2010 , this has caused alot of frustration , confusion & unhappiness to the people as well as the drivers who were deployed to serve the routes.
Basically , i think this is a ploy played by PAP as yesterday in ST , the MCYS says that there are concerns that a lot of people are going into the casino easily to gamble , what i think , they are just finding stupid excuses , cos with these shuttle services , SMRT will have no business.
Obviously , when government made this decision , its like making alot of people jobless , as TNC , which bought about 13 new buses & brought in 25 drivers says that they might retrench these drivers. See how sad these drivers are? Did our government even think about them? Still want to bullshit saying they have found alot of jobs for Singaporeans.... what rubbish... in wanbao yesterday , they even said that for these drivers who are retrenched can go join SBST & SMRT and 1 driver evenspent $300+ to get license to work for RWS Free Shuttle Bus...
Even if they say that there are many people getting easier to go in to casino to bet , then for goodness sake , close down the casino , if you set up casino , obviously is for people to bet de mah.... they can raise the casino levy to $150 & limit each people is allow to spent up to $3000 to gamble per entry & each person is ONLY ALLOWED to enter the premises of the casino ONCE A MONTH ONLY or ONCE in 3 MONTHS , isnt this better then to put people who are serving the RWS who are innocent & those visitors to the resort other than the casino in a difficult situation? I do hope that the opposition can take this issue to voice out in parliament during the next election.
I hope that for people who faced alot of difficulty with regards to this matter , please think carefully before voting in the elections......

I dunno what the govt thinking, but I can tell you somebody very itchy mouth, and somebody very trigger happy. Just to score points. Only to realise the repercussions of those below the line. Too bad lor, people die everyday, lucky its not me, that is their thinking.

I personally think it is a plain stupid and harsh move to terminate the free shuttle bus services.
1. Many drivers will be left jobless. (pap happy liao?)
2. If pple really want to gamble, why should they take the free shuttle bus? (pap miscalculate liao, happy?)
3. Businesses around the casino will be affected, sales drop, less non gamblers families will be go there to spend money. (pap how? Happy lioa?
4. And worst, it seem that builting a casino is solely mean for the foreigners and the rice pple. There is a broken bridge and seem like it send a message to sporean not to go there anymore, you are not welcome. (pap happy liao lor!)

Just watch how the govt will alleviate the above problem later, by letting SBST, and SMRT introduce paid fare shuttle services from heartlands to the IRs.
Why must pay? This is to deter potential gamblers.
Then what is the levy for? Levy is to bring in the bulk of the revenue lor.

Who says CRA must compensate? The shuttle service was an initiative by the IRs themselves. CRA will say its IRs own internal problem, they should settle themselves.

Whoever raised this issue has blown it out of proportion. The majority of the passengers use the bus to go to Universal Studios. Now the monorail to Sentosa is going to be even more packed.

Thats why i dont understand what is the point of opening a casino where they only allow foreigners? Like that they might as well say no singaporean or PRs are allow in the casino... Anyway i guess govt prirority first , SMRT now win liao lor... make big money for serving RWS.... but arent they know that their ability is limited??

Walau real bo? Free shuttle ceased by paid service can go? I have went to RWS Marina Bay (Not for gambling, for some semniar in the convention hall instead) before in April and I see what the ****, Chicken rice = $5!
So, free shuttle or not, does not matter, as a casino would say "Win up to $5million in CASH!, since its kind of a pok kai go in, go out a millionaire.
Well..... no free shuttle can always take public transport, Sentosa one ah.... damn le.
I hear say North Korea also got casinos, except the North Korean citizens will never know whats that (Apart of the staffs) and it is out of bounds except tourists.

2) Buses: Can get PTO to provide paid public bus sv, but tat means higher overhead to begin with i.e. more driver or monthly culmulative working hrs + fuel.
3) Gamblers: So now maybe those switch to play big amt 4D or TOTO or Horse instead, so close down e Singapore Pools franchise at NTUC or 7-11 cos of -ve social impact?

but it was the CRA that forced them to stop operations so they should compensate instead. Besides the shuttles did get approval from the LTA beforehand.

LTA's approval is required as it uses public bus stops after all. If LTA dun control, wouldn't all e free shuttle buses start flooding at every major bus stops? -

If they wanted to they could have rejected the plans for such a service right from the start, but they didnt. So how will they compensate the operator now?

if anyone remembered back when e IR started ops in March (As in USS, Casino, Hotel), plans was alrdy in place to look into adding bus svs to prevent congestion at e Telok Blangah junction.It was clear neighbourhood svs was mulled.
I guess as w/ recent events, e PAP overreacted on things that they actually approved.
