TS, do you know that Mr Chiam's wife has been his political assistant since Mr Chiam joined the politics. She is just as experienced as Mr Chiam and it is just that she works behind the scene ie away from the media but the people of Potong Pasir constituency are familiar with Mrs Chiam.
So, why is she not relevant to politics ?

Younger candidate has no experience and people of potong pasir constitutency are not familiar with the young candidate.
Mrs Chiam has been Mr Chiam's political assistant since he joined politics and the people of potong pasir are very familiar with her and she has been with Mr Chiam helping him for 6 elections and helping and interacting with the people in potong pasir.

after all these years..the successor he has groomed is his wife. She's just a staff nurse, there are more talented individuals out there. Wife alrdy 60s, how many GRCs can she capture in the future? Going by the husband's conservative style, it's unlikely she will do anything different.
I bet you PP will return to PAP.

People in potong pasir has been in strong support for opposition and they are not swayed by upgrading etc offered by the PAP.
So, the majority of the people in potong pasir will be likely to continue to vote for Mrs Chiam for familiarity.
Indeed, Mrs Chiam might not be able to capture GRCs in future. So, she should groom young, capable and committed candidates to work the ground at potong pasir and other targetted areas like what workers' party does now at Aljunied.

Votes have been dropping. And they only won by 2% the last time. Deomographics of the town would have changed over 4 years.

I doubt Aljunied is going to be contested this coming round. WP has been very quiet since the last one, unless they are focusing their presence on the 2 particularly weak areas that brought them down the last time.

Thats the problem with the opposition. They are always shifting their target.
They start from scrap everytime they try a different GRC.
What they have garnered from the previous election should be built on for the comming elections. Gerrymandering can only do so much to a massive GRC. It also affects the incumbent's votes.
