After the last Marine chopper took off from the water tank of Saigon embassy,
US seemed loss its will and ability to have any influence in Asia.
First, the fear of Viet to invade other SEA countries, so called domino effect.

In 1979, Viet invaded Cambodia , as far as Thai boarder.
Fortunately, Viet's invasion was pulled back by China's invasion into Viet!
i dunt know what would happen if China advanced further into Thai,
through much weaker Loas and Cam?
The combined force of Thai and MY might not able to hold PLA,
not to mention the flimsy SAF in 1979,compared with then PLA!

the reason why chinese invade vietnam is due to the following main reason:
mistreating of ethnic chinese in vietnam,occupation of spratley islands,as well as vietnam invasion of combodia on PRC back khmer rouge.

Depending if you wish to read history in-side out or outside-in. PRC Chinese consider it a duty to 'protect' the 'communist' from 'imperialism'. Actually, Mao will stage a war to divert its country attention to Chinese own problem and at that time, famine rule the entire country and many Chinese were dying from hunger.
From the perspective of the American, Nixon was facing the watergate scandal and he need to divert the American with the communist threats.
On the local front, South Vietnam is extremely courrupted and its peasants want to emulate a similar Chinese uprising in the country.
Chinese Communist would have invaded Thailand and than towards Spore and Indonesia since they were hyteria after 'beating' the American in Korea and Vietnan. American is scarce to use the N-bomb because by than Chinese already possess similiar weapon although it may have Russian blessing to drop one into China. (which has a war at the Russian boarder with the Chinese).
I think it was pure luck that finally the Amercian decided to switch alliance and courted the Mao with the little ping-pong and started Nixon first visit to PRC that eventually stopped the war and possible Chinese invasion of Thail, Malaysia and Spore.

Again the Chinese started a war by invading Vietnam in 1979 to 'punish' its 'brother' because Viet has invaded Cambodia. It was not to save the Thail or Malaysian or Singaporean from falling into the Viet but because this is the first time a war has started without Mao. Communist Chinese started the war as they feared that Russian will encircle it now through completing the SEA corridor. Hence it tested the reaction of the Russian by 'defending' its boader and and invading Viet.
Do not ever think Communist is kind and charitable..they are irrationale and will invade any country if find threatened.

it is not i dunno how to cook, it is a matter of whether I need to cook or not? and at present, if someone is cooking for me, why waste my effort and dirty my face and hands with oily stuff. Just get the menu and order whatever you want, they will buy and cook as you like.
