It is a common complaint nowadays among Singaporeans that they feel like strangers in their own country abroad a bus or MRT train, being overwhelmed by the presence of foreigners.
In a short letter to the Straits Times Forum yesterday, Mr Loh Ngin Seng described his experience on a bus journey:
“In a bus I recently took from Rochor to Sembawang at 8pm, I felt like a stranger in my own country, so overwhelmed was I by the numerical superiority of foreigners.”
Mr Loh’s unpleasant experience is apparently shared by many Singaporeans as well.
Shannon Yu wrote on TR’s Facebook:
“Oh it’s not THAT bad. My carriage yesterday looked like 4 natives for every 5 passengers. The crowd, however, was an entirely different matter.”
Russell Teo added:
“You try 169 from Woodlands Int to Admiralty West.”
Elliot Chong mused:
“Sometimes NEL feels like subway from India.”
Due to the PAP’s ultra pro-foreigner and liberal immigration policies, foreigners now make up 36 percent of Singapore’s population, up from 14 percent in 1990. Of the remaining 64 percent who are citizens, an increasing number are born overseas.
The PAP ministers and MPs will be unable to understand the plight of ordinary Singaporeans as most, if not all them drive and hardly use public transport. (except for the purpose of public ‘wayang’ from time to time).
The next election may be the last opportunity for native Singaporeans to reclaim ownership of Singapore after which they will surely be relegated to being second class minorities in their land of birth, controlled, dominated and squeezed dry by the self-serving PAP and its new pets.
the mps undewrstand sporeans plight?why should they listen to anyone or really work in making things good???they dun get sacked at the end of working day for doing nothing so they might as well be doing nothing for the rest of their years as mp!
what spore has are mps both yung n olde, most dnt get down to reality and take a hard actual look on actual enviroment.most are only in the enviroment when its cleaned up n proper for their inspection.meanwhile rest of the time its noisy, dirty n not functioning well.
yesterday news paper provide the numbers as 1.79 million foreigners working and living in Singapore.
Indian expatriate account for 400,000 in Singapore.
i wonder what is singapore work force population?
When caculation per capital income does it show only citizen per capital income or include foreign professional?

Yeap, they think we are stupid ppl, pop up a figure from GDP and than justify the influx of cheap foreigners.
After working in PRC for last 5 years, I though only communist are good at propaganda but seems like PAP is better.
I am really confused, why sg govern want these cheap foreigners when they are less qualified, strange behaviours, remit everybit of their income home..spend little in Sg. If these ppl are here to lower business cost and pop up corporate profit, Spore needs ppl with brians and knowledge..
If we want foreigner to create babies, why need 400K new Indians every year?
more to come.. seeing how expensive things in Malaysia has went.

We are now creating a dual singapore society of very different perception of how things to run. Singapore is no longer the singapore we grew up.
the coffeeshop auntie from china, the beggar from china, the 7-11 chap from china, the SIA admin staff at the airport check-in counter from china, the shop assistant from china, the insurance agent from china.
We are actually chinapore.
what spore?i dun remeber anything bout spore now...
The ratio here is more like 1 sing is to 5 foreigners (according to construction and heavy industrials ratio), so by allowing 100.000 foreigners in, there should be 20,000 jobs for Singaporeans. Like it or not, let take it this way, foreigners are here so that we can jobs. If you remove them, you will go jobless. And alway bear in mind, most Singaporeans are old uncles and aunties now, very less youngs singaporean, and yet many of these young singaporean died in motor accident, army training, commit suicide, leave singapore or simply lost their identity in pubs and discos.
So, what do you see in singapore future?

unfortunately your not using your miniscule mind again, in the past the same happened, we went to manufacturing to tide over, if we can do it in the past why not now??
it just need to look into new areas where the ventures is more fesabile, also in the past more s'poreans were more aggresive in business overseas, unlike now,but it can go back to that way. also there are many areas that singapore can benefit from , be it medical science and maybe in the future- space. but the problems lies now is that by employing cheap foriegn labours, we end up making more unnecessary work for ourselves, along with it giving ourself extra work out of the blue which could be easily advoided.
i guess you would share the same feeling too if a guy was to bed you but say "samula" non stop or "again" in a repeated monotonous tone, if you don't get sick of it sooner, it'll still be later.
but right now this "bad habit" is also a stumbling bloc from preventing us from advancing futher and achieving higher in what ever job we are capable of, it also limits the critical lifeblood of the country-efficenicy.
as pointed the policies now in a general view IMHO is more like 1 step forward but 3 steps backward, we are gaining nothing from this method, only losing it gradually.
not only is our country being flooded by FT...but oso flooded by sluttish water...a punishment from the Gods on a lop sided feminist country

what is this? me bed with a guy and play samurai...oh my God! ninja at play. Too much anime porn, must be..yak!!!
Now, let me make it clear...first and foremost, sending foreigners here is not only to help us in our overheating economy, but also to curb our total wage so as to remain competitive, if you look at the west, their paid had risen to a stage where corporations have to think thrice before employing them. We must maintain our wages within a competitive basis so as to attract FDI. And it is because the in the begining of industrialisation, we depended too much on manufacturing that we end up having to relook into our economy after the 1997 recession, the govt then decided to fire at all front, from service to pharmacy to financial etc etc instead of just relying on manufacturing, and even if you want to maintain manufacturing, you need to manufacturing higher quality and technology products, not bata shoes or shampoo ya.
If you look at today STI and our economy quick upturn with an MTI forecast of 13 to 15% growth, do you think foreigners destroyed or helped us??
Even if we could solve this issue, it would take years.
Should we even consider the birth rate issue? Some foreigners look for Singapore as a retiring destination. Some think we've got a better environment and education system than their home countries.
I think the first of steps that they should take is improving our birth rate issues which comes from our ever increasing cost of living and maternal/paternal leaves etc.
