Way in year 2004, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights commission concludes a high level segment involving a cluster of nations developed and developing to advocate economic, social and cultural rights in line with civil and political rights and terrorism. North Korea together with China, United Kingdom of Great Britain, France and India and many more declared under the international covenant of economic, social and cultural rights (ICESC) and the international covenant of civil and political rights (ICCP).
Two protocols to run in conjunction with the universal human rights to respect human dignity, rights and obligations a fellow human being should enjoy.
The purpose of the 2006 resolution in response to Pyongyang two nuclear tests restricted arms deals, nuclear technology and weaponry, travel bans, assets freezes and imports of luxury goods denied North Koreans the privileges an ordinary citizen by virtue of his or her spending power the rights to access to luxury goods, contrary to Article 1 and 25 of the ICESC. http://www2.ohchr.org/english/law/cescr.htm
The nuclear arm tests or nation’s nuclear race for power should be a separate issue to contend with and should not be omitted in the 2006 resolution to punish North Koreans including taking away their own means of subsistence. Human beings have differents level of needs and satisfaction according to the most basic Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. This could range in ascending order from psychology, safety, love/belonging. esteem and self-actualization. I would not propose that all levels of the said theory needs to be fulfilled because if we compared across developing nations, there are far more people who are in dying needs and starvation every day. However, I beseech that depriving their citizens’ the basic rights to humanity is not a gentleman act to stir a storm. Beside, according to John Feffer, the two nuclear tests are unverifiable between a satellite and a long-range ballistic missile and unknown to most what Pyongyang is up to his sleeve again.
It would be best to lift the particular clause and treat fellow humans with dignity and rights according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
