Should ministers compete in SMC?

Should we get the ministers to compete in the SMCs ?
I don't remember seeing any ministers competing in a SMC. Is it because they are so 'talented' that they should always be placed in a GRC to guide the new and inexperienced MPs ?
I personally feel that the PM should compete in the Hougang SMC to prove to Singaporeans and to his party that he really has the support from the people.
Why must Eric Low be sent to contest in Hougang everytime? Only to be defeated by the incumbent?
It would also be good if either of the DPMs could contest in Potong Pasir.
Maybe DPM Wong since the Potong Pasir residents would have seen for themselves how Bishan-Toa Pa Yoh GRC has been run by him?

Ho is a senior minister of state... I won't really consider him as a full minister helming a ministry...MBT wasnt a minister then when he competed in Potong Pasir way back in 1984 (and lost to chiam)
Maybe it's good to get MBT to compete in Potong Pasir again? after an additional 2 decades of experience, maybe this time round he can defeat chiam? haha...

he could have become a minister earlier if he'd won Potong Pasir. Maybe we would really see mini stars standing in single ward. -

LKY bragged abt MBT and his fantastic academic performance to the potong pasir residents in 1984...He even put down Chiam for getting several Bs and Cs in the national exam (o-level if i'm not wrong)..
Unfortunately MBT lost. LKY then sent him to tampinese...MBT is still there today

tat issue didn't just made PAP lost Potong Pasir, the overall vote was quite low -
why talk about last time, let move on and concentrate more on the future...do we all agree to vote MBT out?? if so, how are we going to do it, let have a information gathering, follow by plan, action and get result ya...
If MBT is in tampines, let us go down to tampines and do a survey on the residents living there, asking them, who they actually prefer, or what they see in MBT, then ask follow up questions such as why they like or why they dun like him. After doing the survey, we do a empirical study on it, then we start to plan on what to do...and so on..

i think gan kim yong is the only current minister in a SMC. and i see a 80% chance of chua chu kang being absorbed into hong kah GRC, which has no minister now.
