Anyone still think the American dream still happening..rags to riches stories back in the 80's ?Do you think SG able to learn at least to capture some of the dreams and idealism to bring prosperity to us or is it just a dream?
it's just a dream.
Well the 'American Dream' was only possible when adherence to its constitution was the strongest, in the early 1900s, where the government had little power and the people were free to pursue their happiness. (not applicable now though)
In SG where the government controls 60% of the economy and dictates our freedom of speech, media, where we should live, the direction of the economy, and much more... what do you think? This is more like our leaders' country not ours, it will never happen here
You mean SG cannot produce families like the Dynasty in the USA with all the arabian horses, helicopters and private jets with our high GDP?
What happen to social mobility and SG dream?
Our immigrant forefathers worked hard for a prosperous SG with ahigh GDP but we get HDB flats only meh? Doesn't make sense
