Why u may not want yr kids growing up in this system

1) Grossly Unfair Meritocracy
Only the best as "perceived" to be since school with paper qualifications do well. paper qualifications do not mean anything as dozens of scholars in other countries will tell u. There are other qualities in humans which make them successful. In the end meritocracy is being used to keep the power elites intact when there is no clear distinction on how paper grades equate to performance. In most western developed countries, leaders in governments first prove themselves in the private sector before entering the government
2) Unfair grounds of competition
When dozens of Singaporeans spent their time studying in a education system only to come out disadvantaged by NS and reservist duties when come to employment. Companies hire cheaper workers and degrees from unknown 3rd rate universities in India and China, While the rich and wealthy can afford to give their kids top class coaching and sponsoring in overseas universities in the west , the ordinary citizens cant.
3) Character Development
its sad that the system does not teach one to be fair and equal or any critical thinking skills. Kids are robbed out of their childhood and their future taken up by pursuing what seems to be paper grades. They grow up with a one sided view of life in general There was an article mentioning how the Canadian educations system is not number one but equips one with life skills

Dozens of HDB, CPF, taxation policies in place , a big disadvantage to the majority of citizens. They are suppressed rather being pulled up to perform to their best.
As an individual, i will not want to subject my kid to the same unfair circumstances as myself. The end of the road dies with me. I would not want to produce another generation which is going to suffer.

With all we are going through and all that you have said, it does not sound encouraging to give birth to new lives here. Giving birth to them and bringing them up in Singapore is like giving them suffering.

Don't mislead others by telling folks that British pays 50% taxes and US pays 40% taxes. You should be telling folks that the taxes in Britain ranges from 10% to 50% based on the income ceiling.
Seriously, they have far more generous deductions compared to Singapore and they have better social benefits compared to Singapore.
In US, UK and Nordic countries, money is tax from the rich belonging to the higher tax brackets to redistribute amongst the poor, at least there is some form of social justice. In Singapore, it is never the case, the poor are left to survive on their own while the rich gets richer.
