SINGAPORE: Serangoon North residents can look forward to a S$7 million Neighbourhood Renewal Programme.
The project will enhance the living environment for some 2,000
households living in 29 blocks along Serangoon North Avenue 1 and 2.
The new and upgraded amenities are aimed at encouraging families,
community and social groups to gather, socialise and improve community
bonding.
Proposed amenities include beautifully landscaped family parks, modern
community plaza, modern children playgrounds and boardwalks.
Following the consultation exercise, the Working Committee will
consolidate and review the feedback from residents before finalising
the type and extent of improvements to be carried out.
A consensus gathering exercise will be held after the public
consultation and exhibition for all residents to vote for the
Neighbourhood Renewal Programme.
The upgrading will only proceed if 75 per cent or more of the eligible household units in the precinct vote in favour.
The project is scheduled to be completed within a two-year period
upon receiving support from the consensus gathering exercise. - CNA/jy
There's been a lot of upgrading in the recent 2 years. A walk thru that town and one can see the extreme makeover.
Elections is indeed coming....what with all the positive news everyday in straits times and now news of more upgrading. Ser. North belongs to Aljunied GRC and perhaps in that town, the votes were mostly against the PAP? lol

opposition still weak in singapore.
Actually as from the flyer I've received, it's only some covered linkway and passenger alighting points in Nth Ave 2, so does not really seems to benefit from the upgrading. I was expecting lift upgrading instead, as lifts here only stops at 1st, 5th, 9th and 12th floor, quite inconvenient to majority of the elderly staying here.
Got upgrade better than no.
Cheers.
if lift upgrading, then you will need to co-pay and with a 75% consensus from the block. Costs hundreds per household and I wonder if they profit from it.

where got govt do thing and dun profit from it, they get a big china contractor, import china talents and workers from cheap provinces, give them the upgrading of contract for th whole of singapore at a price, then from there calculated the cost and put it back into the residents, our govt dun do a lose lose job ya, that is why they are specially paid talents.
The govt renovating and upgrading the surrounding of HDB is not just for you, it is for the image of singapore, once a while, Mah Bow Tan will take a helicopter around singapore, and when he sees some ulu ulu place, he will want it to upgrade, so that those VIP guests from overseas will admire singapore beauty and well maintained city...many residents are taken for a ride that it is for themselves, the more important part is for the image of Singapore ya.

Opposition weak in public support.
PAP will still win next General election. Too bad singapore dun do opinion polls. I think 60 plus percent support PAP.

So, work on it, if that is the weakiest point, do something about it, at least you noted your weak spot, that is good, dun have to do troubleshooting analysis...so they are going to sit around in their meeting drinking coffee and wait for the durian to drop ar.

if that's a alway mentality before going into an election, then i think better dun hold election, wasting of people times and public money. We can all agree that the consitution be change to 20 years one election
eventually all will get upgrade de
But who's e MP there?
it up to them to appoint a Military Police there
Opposiiton party must improve on visiting the areas they wanna contest in. Go there more frequently to see the residents.
ya, go give free gifts, tell stories, have a food fair or fun fair, organise party, organise committee...get the ground moving..!!! It is of no use going thru net and speaking only in meeting, you have to walk the talks, there are many oldies who dun use net and more so, nobody cares what you talk in the meeting if you dun bring it to the ground.
There is lots of hard work to be done, but without hardwork, where got success?
