An unidentified man in his fifties committed suicide by jumping out of his 7th floor flat in Choa Chu Kang this morning.
Neighbours The Online Citizen (TOC) spoke to said that the man who lived with his mother (in her seventies) is unwell, unemployed and has been depressed for some time.
A neighbour who did not want to be identified said that the mother and son seem to live alone. ”It is strange that more than an hour after the suicide, no relatives have come to assist the family”, she adds.
Although attempted suicide is an offence punishable with jail under section 309 of the Penal Code, suicide remains one of the top causes of death in Singapore.
In 2006, an Asia-Pacific conference on suicide prevention said that 1700 people killed themselves between the years 2000 and 2004.
What is more alarming is that for every successful suicide attempt, there are seven unsuccessful ones.

You can die in one piece and get your mother to claim you from mortuary.
Or next time you can ask your kids to die in one piece so that you dont have to pick up after them.

What a dumb-ass thing to say. Shouldn't 7 out of 8 surviving be seen as a good thing??
i was wondering if a rumour which i heard last time was true..and that is when a person commit sucide, the person if certified death, will be hand-cuffed even after death (and sent to rest being chained in the coffin)??

the point is why are so many people trying to kill themselves...its not about the survival rate.

I also heard before...but also dunno true or not...think the most is cuff till the morgue...if not still have to waste a restricted item into the coffin.
any idea which block? i pity his mother. sometimes people's life can be so miserable, so 惨. but don't you guys think fate is in our hand ? if this guy seek help, he and his mother will not be so 惨. there is a chinese saying :一念之差. one decision can affect a lot of things. sigh...........................人有时很惨。
When the person attempt committed suicide and died he will not be hand-cuff. If he's still alive then will be handcuff.
