Johor To Stop Selling Water To Singapore From Skudai Plant Next Year
JOHOR BAHARU, April 27 (Bernama) -- Johor will stop the sale of raw water to Singapore from the Skudai water treatment plant here upon the expiry of the related agreement next year, Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said.
"Negotiations are underway to return (the Skudai plant to the state government)," he told reporters at a news conference in conjunction with the visit by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the customs, immigration and quarantine complex here.
The Skudai plant is managed by PUB, Singapore's national water agency.
Singapore's Environment and Water Resources Minister Dr Yaacob Ibrahim was quoted by the republic's media as saying that the city-state would not renew the agreement when it expired next year, saying Singapore has enough water supply.
Another water supply agreement between Johor and Singapore will only expire in 2061.

But i heard Malaysia natural water are more nutritious and better for health leh..singaporeans medical expenses are getting higher and higher as shown in deduction of medisave, this can be link to long term drinking of some unnatural water which we have yet to verify and make a study on it. You may drink NewWater, but what is the impact in long term is still unknown. Looking at the Singaporeans weakness and sickness arises, i think there maybe a link to it. And maybe even for those couple with cannot conceive babies, it might be related to water problem.
Unlike in taiwan, we hv plenty of natural mountain water, that is why we are more pleasant looking, strong and nicer.

dun worry, i am using rain water collected on my porch and roof, i am wondering, in taiwan and also many asian places i went to, most houses collect rain water, in thailand they collect it to boil and drink too, how come singaporeans dun use it, typically speaking, we are a rain and shine country, should make use of it -

We have been ripping Malaysia off for like 50 years. LOL... Like what Rock^Star say.
Its based on a very old old contract with the British Government. The water is cheap like dirt. =)
