Did you all observe this trend? Many times during the telecast of parliamentary debate, i always see empty seats. Why is this happening? Is it because some of the mps are busy with their other work committments? What's the point of selecting them to be the 'speaker' for constituent if they are always absent from the debates?
Maybe someone can try to 'take attendance' during these meetings. During election times make it known to electorates how frequently their MPs attend the session. Hopefully this will encourage them to turn up for the debate. I remember PM calling aljunied opposition team (Team A) Team Awol for 'disappearing' after election. What about MPs who awoled from parliamentary sessions?
One thing i am sure is that I always see low thia kiang during debate. Maybe we need more oppositions so that more seats can be occupied during debate..
They got other things to do. Without valid reason for absentism is now allowed.
Taken from《赶羚羊》(Chase antelope),We need to 赶议员 (Chase the MP out)
not all required to attend all sessions.
The attendance shows Absent With Apologies.
You don't know such thing are allowed, ah?
they got better things to do mah.............
all thinking how to improve on their bootlicking and dicksucking skills...........

Their courtesy bus to the Parliament was full of PAP, the rest of the MPs had to go home and watch live telecast.
They have got full time jobs as managers and directors in private companies or GLCs.
They can't be at two places at one time.
Give them a break.
they rather sleep at home then be caught sleeping in parliament.
They take such high salary but don't want to do their job!!!
Even if they are physically here, they are also deaf to all those criticisms.
Does the MOD give the NS men a break from their RT and reservist cos they have work commitment ?
Please give the people a break.
They have important issues to vote and discuss during the session.
If they view other commitment more important, they should resigned and focus.
Give the people that are willing to serve a chance.
MPs paid and allowances are all pre- paid , attend for what??? unless if the chairman (CJ) said those not attending will have their allowances and paid cut, I think parliament will be in full house.
tehy dun attend then how
call MP and catch them
and charge them ar?
AWOL?

What?
And give up a cushy monthly $13K MP's allowance just like that?

hey.. they need to moonlight.. else how they can afford to keep up with the mini-stars who show off "the ministerial necessities" to them with their million-dollar paycheques
so... pity the poor MPs who have to hold down 2 or 3 jobs while juggling 5 or 6 directorships
they have to turn up for those things.. they're more important than sleeping in Parliament
they have to show up for their day jobs, as well as board meetings to justify their directors' fees

Some have more than 10 over directorships in different companies.
You can't expect them to be in Parliament and attending board meetings at the same time right?

clap clap!! well said. no reason should justify mp ABSEnt from pariliament hearing unless, relative die. no one ask them to join MP if they had busy schedule commitment.
i also very busy traveling for work. but the army dont even give me a break from my reservist and RTs. we had done our time for our country, many of us even serve coming to our mid 30s. never had they appreciate our commitment to the country in 2 .5year full time national service and over 10years of NS. FXXX. request deferment like myself need so many approval.
