CON by Sing Govt. As far as the govt is concern they knew 80% of the recent folks that move to Sing is only transit visitors and there is only Singapore Govt.
I have met ministers and they had invited senior executives from Singapore to speak in the States to convince Singaporean to Go back that is their primary interest is to get back all the real lost . Particularly those that was borned and grew up in Singapore System succeeded and got jobs outside of Singapore. (By Singapore system i mean...gone thru Singapore education, SAF, worked and pay taxes)
....Over the last 4 years, On a annual basis Singapore overseas unit will gather singaporean overseas for dinner just to get intouch with overseas Singaporean and they will tell overseas singaporean not to forget Singapore......
ALL you recent foreigners who took up PR and citizenship Trust me you are just CPF feeder funds and GDP.
To be a trusted Singaporean by the Singapore Govt with security clearance.....You need to be the 2nd or 3rd Generation born Singaporean.

Anyway, as the chinese said, good horse never go back eat the same grass, so those Singaporeans returned are poor or weak horse that cannot make it big in foreign land. Foreigners becoming PR or citizenship here is not their fault, it is the Sg Govt who attracted them, because most foreigners got nothing to loose, they cannot survive in their own countries and the conditions, be it politics, health, environment, laws and human rights are a 100 times worst than Singapore. They dun mind even to die here, for the sake of a proper funeral than their own countries dirty and flirty place. To most of them, even as you said, being conned by singapore govt, they dun mind, because in their own country, they were conned till bones and sticks. At least here, the govt con on morale issue only, food aplenty, jobs aplenty and education aplenty.
If you said I come from Swiss, Brit, German, Finland, Canada, States or France, I may feel conned and leave this country immediately, but if i come from Mynamar, poor town of China, rural areas of Indonesia, Philippine, thais and vietnam, Singapore is heaven to me, Just imagine i dun have to pay a single cents since young to offer to this country and yet i can enjoy the stability, harmony, good transportation, housing, education, nice parks, road, environment, health etc etc...even if you said Sg Govt is conning us, we are still very much happier to be here and enjoying it at the expense of the last generation Singaporean works.
