DSO National Laboratories examining letter to PM

SINGAPORE: The DSO National Laboratories is examining a letter addressed to the Prime Minister.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the letter was received at the Istana at around 8pm on Monday.
SCDF conducted tests using detectors and did not find any traces of hazardous materials.
The letter, which was typewritten and consisted of a few pages, has been sent to the DSO National Laboratories for further checks.

Contents of the letter is not revealed.
any letter from the public sent to LHL is consider mystery. no big deal

It is just a letter lah.
The "mysterious" is added to spice it up.
The PMO choose to err on the side of caution.

DSO now want to play CSI. Check for finger prints, check the quality of the paper;where distributed; who bought, the print, trace the typewriter, narrow it down to which retailer, check the warranty card, who bought the typewriter, check the envelope; stamps, which post office; view CCTV.
After one week, they can't trace the origin of the letter, but have one crucial clue.
The sender did put his name, address and NRIC no, on the letter.

A mysterious letter sent to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Monday sparked a massive security scare with several Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers being dispatched to the Istana to carry out tests on the letters.
According to the Straits Times, a police spokesman said yesterday that SCDF officers did not find any traces of hazardous materials on the letter after conducting the tests, but did not comment on what made it suspicious that there is a need to activate so many SCDF and security personnel at the scene.
The letter has been sent to the DSO National Laboratories for further checks. There were no immediate comments from the Prime Minister’s Office.
PM Lee had not been seen or heard for weeks now. Neither is his father MM Lee Kuan Yew who is currently away in the United Kingdom.
This is probably the first time that a letter sent to the Prime Minister has triggered a security scare. Its sender and contents remain unknown.

this is what made it suspicious...
not the perfume but the fact that some LADY actually wrote a 情书 to him...
