Dear Kojak, You suspect that salary is the main issue here, but I do not suspect because I am actually based on facts, the salary level is certainly bot as you suspect because if you take income supplement in and others it is closer to 2k per month and there are many job types too. Very often it is easier to be popular rather than telling the truth, because the truth hurts. Some Singaporeans must rethink and readjust I am not staying at Ivory tower, I have been staying in Jurong west HDB for more than ten years since 1994.

The most ironic thing is the incumbent wants labour costs here to be low so that MNCs will come here.
Yet the labour cost of a minister that a citizen must pay is the world highest.
Talking about leading by example anyone?

They have never promised they will lead by examples.

LHL
promised that ministers will lead by example if pay cuts are needed, saying, "When all have to take the bitter medicine to get well, we must start at the top. This is true both of companies and more so of the country."

He might have changed his mind after making this statement.
Do we trust our government any more?
The government are not taking the voice of the people over the employment issue with good spirit. What can we do?
You changed your mind and stance very fast too.
First say never promised, now say might have changed his mind after making the statement.
Happy posting :)

I have to tell you that I have not come across the statement you posted. It is upon reading that I realised he had indeed spoken on this.

They are starting to hike everything already even before the elections.
Think they are anticipating that they will lose more votes in the next election, so better try to make more money now.

I believe.
Ministers are Singaporeans right?
Ah Tan sings the same tune, do the same dance Hip Hop.
A man with no depth speaks so. EAsy job to ignore the problems and go on to ba ba ba condemn Singaporeans.
where is the FACT he referring to?
He did not state clearly what FACT he use to substantiate an allegation.
Ah Tan used to be NTU Finance & Banking lecturer

The question this Dr failed to address is the paid, singaporeans are choosy, not just because of transportation, or shift work, or dirty jobs, but rather most will balance themselve between cost of living here and the paid given, if the paid justify a deficit impact to the cost of living here, how on earth, is a local going to take the job?? It will end up pay and pay to the govt, resulting in no saving, not enuf the spent, and certainly, poor condition.

Oh ya. I forgot to separate as well
a professor but yet making a fatal mistake- not factoring in the standard of living cost here to verify if we are really choosy.
and for the million time and beyond-min wage is a must have here, since when it is not beneficial for the economy? this would really prevent employers from making shady deals and holding the govt "hostage" by taking advantage of the situation here, also to angel7030 miscule mindset whos small scale sight is grossly ignoring the larger picture, it also pans and balances the after effects caused by the large influx foriegn workers here while at the smale time slowing the intake, it also slows the overheating rising cost of the standard of living here.
so what do you have to counter this time angel 7030?
