Long time given up reading Straits Times or watching Mediacorp News & CNA. They don't much perspective. CNA is suppose to be the voice of Asia but I find to be like a SPG. Giving the voice/face of Asia that the Westerners prefer to see.

if u dont know straits times is bias, you must be living foreign country for a long time. i even heard of ISD working in SPH.
media coverage is not complete often fail to provide a alternative views on govt policy. they are just like a ipod!, download and play!. they cannot give you the whole overview which will allow you to better judge the pros and cons of these policy.
i rather watch, BBC, cnn, cnbc. i only buy The newpaper for soccer section nia!!

Cause most of the people form their opinions based on others'. Less less than 20% form independent opinions. That is why managing public sentiments through state-media is still VALUED by them. They like to use phrase like 'so and so agrees' to the same effect.So the time between now and the day when the mass 'de-link' from the state-media starts, like what is happening now in North Korea, whether there is going to be a major revamp within the state-media or a major clampdown of the internet like no more youtube, only time will tell

SG only has one mainstream paper, lack of compeition for decades, and you lose the edge. Why then competition is a bad thing for them ?
Now they are diverting into property investments to supplement their revenues.
Let us watch how they take on the competition online.

One shd only read straits times if it's news about rape, robberies, thefts etc. Other news about politics and welfare schemes for the people, take it with a pinch of salt.

last time, at least people use it as toilet paper, now nobody is using it, why u guys and gals still buying it??? kind of surprise to me??? long long i already scrap off all State times in my organisation..even i stop paying them, they still sent, up to them.
