If they cannot handle a simple question that concerns that their own dept, what more can u expect and ask from them ?
If you want to see them debate, they would to request for a pay rise as it is not in their SOP to debate.

I hope, if more opposition mp's get a seat , the PAP mp's would show us more of their debate skills.
My dream is to see PAP MP's working hard debating hard so that their part time work is well renumerated.

The ideas about debate is to be able to raise question on issues that deemed inside the "Ring" and discussed it outside openly. but not necessary interferring decision. Only our PAP has no confident and fear of public opinon that are afraid in openly discussed agenda.

Worst still within party member they are not allow to speak against the ideas.

our parliament is Q&A , hardly an debate. debate in my opinion is which 2 person actively engage in a topic.

i remember once during NS days, some secrertary of defence visited our camp, our CO ask me to attend.
he say to me" u any question to ask secertary of defence?"
i say to colonel" can i ask about the improvement of cookhouse food?".
colonel reply" dont ask this question, if you no better question, keep quiet, in case you had question to ask, sent to me for vetting first".
such a culture already instill in us, ask simi also sent for vetting first, open, frank kind of debates and question answer session is never promoted in singapore.

I ask CO '"why me"
he reply" no one wana volunteer so, i pick".
i ask again" engaging?".
he reply" no, but make sure you dont sleep inside the auditorium OK? if u volunteer, long weekend".
our parliament session is boring and dead quiet. sometimes the camera capture MP sleeping and yawning.
