but crane operators job also not as secure as office job as construction industry can go downhill very quickly and it will.................less new buildings means less need of operators.........
As long as your pay cheque comes from an employer, your job is never secured.
jobs like these are only offered to the selected few with rigorous selection procedures and dirty tricks as expected in all spore companies gov or non-gov.
how many jobs do they have like these to singaporeans???30??50??1000??
i would say they only have less than 100 jobs !and if they had jobs like these...they want experienced people who mysteriously became a tower crane operator!!!
its such a great job that even employers tend to advertise it in straits times under experienced crane opertors...or seldom seen in newspapers after a few years.....meanwhile u wait long long and depend on luck for that job!
well, i feel it's kind of pointless. i keep seeing this labia thing being repeated. And angel7030 is a scatterbrain, she repeats her crap and toots her own trumpet no matter what.

Must it be that particular job?
Sometimes, our minds are too limited in the scope of vision. Take a step back... there's a wide array of things for us to do.... that we can do...
Waiting is not an option.
Not surprising, to me that the crane operator can earn 4k to 6k per month.
These type of jobs are skilled job, the person is a specialist in the field.
I can tell you a shipyard ship welder is paid at the rate of $350 per day. You just need a cert in it.

It is a high risk job. Not for those who have fear for height. Marine industry still needs a lot of people.

What else can be expected from a 'zwei-siao-hog' with a sore ego lost as an exposed hooligan that is a born ‘mother fucker’ (*1) ?
shipyard welder paid $350/day??? that means roughly $7000/month???i was in singapore and read the classified ads for 30 over years.....if the money is there...dont u think i would have been in that industry a long time ago ?unless salary market was destroyed or overcrowded by foreigners.
welding is meant for guys with steady hands....like me.im a good welder.......apart from my high tech robotics experience.if they had a job that paid even $3k/mth in singapore then i would have taken it long ago..............but obviously singapore never had any.
s$350.00 per day impossible
if that's the case - a lot of people would apply for that position
26 days * s$350 per day = how much
crane operator - hazardous job

Well - we got one rest day ....... at least up to this point... and the Taiwan 'hum' is a different pot of cockles that need a concerted effort to debunk its garbage - and should not be tolerated

Not allowed.

The unofficial working hours of sec sch teachers are much more.
Saturdays still have to go back for certain CCAs even though we are supposed to have gone on a 5-day work week... Sundays is time to prepare for the following week's lessons.
what about the big 4 - some of their staff camp at their work station
i am proud to say that my dad is a crane operator at PSA for 35 years now.

btw.. spoiling a vote is still making a statement.. that they do not appreciate the incumbent... and cannot in good faith vote for the opponent... they made their choice that none of the people standing is good enough...
for the enemy of your enemy may not be your friend...
and just because candidate one is horrible, doesn't mean that candidate two isn't...
in the end, if people depended on politicians for their personal welfare and happiness, they kinda deserve whatever shit the politician scumbag wring them for...
ultimately, politicians are all parasites... they need us but we, the people, if we are mature enough, don't need them at all..
Spoiling the vote is not a good statement. It only serves to keep the PAP in power. If a person wants a change to the current situation, spoiling the vote is useless, meaningless, and absolutely irresponsible.
It's like, "don't blame me for anything. It's not my fault. Someone else voted for the PAP or the opposition"
It's a bunch that has no guts to go with the opposition, or against the PAP, and instead choose to aid the PAP indirectly by spoiling their votes. They are no different from those who vote the PAP coz they don't care, they fear the PAP, etc.

Actually, crane operators in PSA are very well taken care of. To put it simply, they are like the revenue-generating dept of any other corporations. They are the most important group of workers in PSA, because PSA needs them to move containers efficiently in order to generate those huge revenues.
If the Govt likes to rant about how lazy or useless or unproductive Singaporeans are, I would say, look no further to our PSA workers for their dedication and productivity.
Crane operators in PSA earn $4k or even more, putting in extra time. They earn better than graduates in white-collar jobs. Of course, the timing is long. The longer you are on the job, the more you earn. However, they are taken care of with a good union and by the organization.

I just whacked him/her for her stupidity (posting a chicken wing scam and claiming that's the truth), and he/she stays out of that topic completely.
but then goes to other topics to wreck havoc.
Ya, its useless. That rubbish person is a hopeless piece of trash that cannot be saved. Probably this is the one and only place (sgforums) the trash feels important, coz in real life, it is probably a sad and insignificant piece of life.

True, but my stance is that the Govt should not make it any worse.
Given that human beings are usually short-sighted (that's why probably only 1 in 10 succeed in what they do with the ability to see long-term), bringing in cheap labour to prop up Singapore's economy is a big no-no. It is at the huge expense of the average local.
The way things go, the middle class will only get alienated more and more by the way this Govt works. And as I said, I see people losing their jobs by 40, and many people having problems making ends meet at the twilight stages of their lives.
I don't want to be one of them, so I am out of Singapore. Even though I am in a position where the cheap labour cannot replace my job, that doesn't mean that 10 years later, they won't be able to. The blatant import of foreigners is like a parasitic situation. Jobs higher up will slowly get hit by this as well (Lawyers, doctors, etc).
How many people are like you or myself, who find a way out by ourselves? The average John Doe depends on their job to survive, and depraving relative stability and security to them is suicidal to Singapore in my opinion
hmmm.....don't mean to side track...But port union is traditionally very strong every where....i think it is the nature of the work and also because it is the life line of Trade for any country. The long shore port union in Long Beach is equally powerful and I had worked with them on different occasion believe me you get high blood pressure and they get really really high pay.

Coming back to the above, there are different types of positions at the ports, and all of them are paid really well.
In Belgium, there is this group of workers, that props some form of protection on the top corners of a container, before another container is stacked onto it. I believe their pay is like 3 - 4k EURO per month.
Then, there is another group of workers, who are in charge of driving new cars out of the containers and parking them neatly at the docks. They are paid really well, because they have to ensure that not a scratch is made to any of the new cars in that narrow space.
Of course, there are the harbour pilots, ie tugboat captains, who use their tugboats to direct huge ships (like container and cruise ships) into the harbour. Their pay is easily in the 5 figure.
Of course, all of the above are specialists. They are certified and trained to do their job.

Very true...
The day we have a FT MP or Minister or President will be the day I prepare to move out of Singapore... Someone has advised me before to take a PR in some other country first....
if they earning so much money and having a good life in spore then why bother to immigrate?
$4k/mth salary are regarded as road sweeper jobs in the first world developed country status.do u see any roadsweepers or toilet cleaners in spore earning even $3k/mth or not???NO!!!!BECAUSE SINGAPORE IS SIMPLY ANOTHER THAILAND,MALAYSIA OR INDONESIA.....IT CANT COMPARE SALARY with the japanese.....it cant compare salary with switzerland....so spore salary is only high if the dudes some minister!!same pay as adolf hitler or burmese prime minister or some dictator in africa.how many jobs in spore pays even $3k/mth for o levels only??not much i can tell u!!so how manyjobs in spore that pays $4k/mth for o levels???even lesser!
even they had 100,000 jobs that paid o level holders $4k per month.....then what bout the rest of the sporeansa????earn $800/mth????chances are out of the 5 ,000,000 eople in spore....only less than 100 or 500 o level holders earn $4k.mth....and these are the selected few.its as good as telling people they have airline pilots with olevels earning $$$$anyway 500/5,000,000 is only about 0.01 max of the entire 5000000 population.might as well compare the population of highly paid million dollars salaried PAP ministers to the whole population.....they would say...hey..i got degree honours only and earn $50k/mth...and start to say...if i can make it i dont see why u cant make that dough!
they want to bull shit at least can bull shit believably!!!
